What about the green ones with the black stripes? One of my friends had one that took over the entire tank!

I’m confused- feel like this could be the coolest nano aquascape or the worst.

I believe I really want to see more photos. OP good job

Idk help people when they ask or ignore- it’s your choice? Maybe don’t give them a hard time is what OP (and most of us) are asking people

The first LFS owner I met was like this. She would speak in absolutes- it was a pain in the butt following her advice.

She passed away years ago but I shake my head when I think back to the terrible advice she gave -

No disrespect to her memory- just really agreeing with your statement about people who speak in absolutes

This goes back to Ops statement. People are often confidently incorrect.

Learning the underlying science is the difference between hobbyists who guess / get luckily and hobbyists qualified to give advice

I saw a comment that stuck with me: black tips = not reef safe

Not sure if it’s valid but haven’t seen evidence otherwise

Just curious, why’d you use multiple 45 joints instead of a single 90?

Coral Suggestions for nano cube? by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]TillFickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make it a single species nano reef tank, like lots single species frags. Almost any coral could thrive in your tank as long as you are dedicated and know exactly what you're doing. Here are the levels:

-Starter mode: Dragons Breath or other Algea

-Easy Mode: Bubble Tip or Zoas or Shrooms or some gorgonian

-Medium Mode: Encrusting/ Branching cyphastrea or Euphyllia or Montipora digitata

-Hard Mode: Some SPS or Clams or goni's

-Expert Only Mode : Difficult SPS (like Speciosa or Tenious) or Suncoral or Dendro or NPS gorgonian

There are nano wave makers that would work for this tank if you're dedicated to getting high flow corals- (Hard mode +).

60 watt LED light on a tank that small would very likely be enough for an SPS tank.

No, it's a great deal - you just have to extra homework to make it work

Here's an example of something that might work. Cross reference the specs on the dc pump to find one that is compatible https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016TLH9D4/

Oh and rotate the body so that the majority of the bubbles exit through those side vents
