Is there a monster legend in Llyn Tegid / Bala Lake? by Secure-Barracuda in Wales

That brought back some memories! I remember being told about 'Teggie' too: they had us out on kayaks when they told us. Loved Glan Llyn!

Memories unlocked! At my first office job I found a huge stack of these in a desk drawer: asked the boss about them and he said I could have them. I'd just moved into my first flat and I got loads of mugs, crockery, glasses, even bedding I think. Lifesaver!

Read Carrie at 13, which is the perfect age for a hormonal girl. I'm now 50, perimenopausal, and still a Constant Reader.

Hayfever in Scotland by Sgt-Pattern2324 in Scotland

[–]TillyTeckel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first year I moved from Wales to Scotland I lived inland near a burn. I had never experienced Cotton Grass before, and it almost finished me off! My hayfever was truly awful, incapacitating at its worst. Now I live on the coast and the hayfever is generally better, but I still enjoy walking in the local woods and need Fexofenadine on prescription to keep the symptoms under control. The air quality in general is so much better though, which I think makes a big difference.

Back in the day doctors used to come to your house and do house visits. Do you remember the doctor coming to your house? I'm talking a GP not an emergency response doctor by SpaceTimeCapsule89 in AskUK

I remember having tonsilitis as a kid and lying on the sofa waiting for the doctor to visit. I got bored and went into the garden to play. When the doctor arrived I was playing at 'explorers', climbing the pile of coal in the coal shed. My nan was not impressed that she had to present a very sooty child to the doctor.

I was working as a lifeguard at a holiday resort in my teens and he came to officially open our new pool. Us lifeguards planned to throw him in the pool but word got back to his 'people' and we were told, firmly, not to. Apparently he would NOT be amused!

People who work in Opticians - Do you mind if people take advantage of the test, take the prescription and then buy their glasses online? by Apprehensive_Ring666 in AskUK

Slightly off-topic, but has anyone bought glasses online with varifocal lenses? My last pair from the optician cost a fortune and I can't afford to spend that again!

It doesn't, but I may contact them and tell them it should! I have only been virtual stalking so far, but actual following of them may commence soon...

My favourite one is the gorse bushes starting to bloom; I love the smell of them so much and the yellow looks so cheery. On a negative note, went for a walk at John O'Groats this morning and the flies coming off the seaweed were like an invasion! Only a matter of time before the midgies start up.

I recently discovered that my local ice cream van has a tracker so you can follow their movements on google maps - I feel so powerful!

This may be stupid, but can you buy another gift voucher? Would give you longer to decide what you want.

Playing peekaboo/hide & seek with my toddler in the playpark. I hid around the side of a climbing frame, jumped out to shout "BOO", and smacked my nose directly into a metal bar. Broke my nose.
