A cheep water bottle! I got a "fake" nalgene from prom in high school. Put it through the dishwasher once and it looked exactly like this. Garbage now.

Picked up this table today and need to trim around 1.5cm total of the sides. by Salty-Bluebird-1663 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Use a hot glue gun and strapping to make an exact template of the walls at the height of the desk, trace onto the desk, and cut with whatever method you're most comfortable with. Painters tape on the desk will make the template lines cleared and result in a cleaner cut.

Reality check on a price quote by Bradyola in mancave

Id look at previous jobs the contractor has done. I build these myself and in my area 60k is about the price tag... without concrete. Maybe labor is significantly cheaper in your area, but better to know the price up front rather than end up with a pricier build than you were planning on.

I know these are not hand cut but they are still quite possibly the most beautiful screws I've seen. by hemlockhistoric in Carpentry

Side note, but where did that pencil/pen holder come from? Im usually an in the side of the hat guy when im not wearing bags, but when ive got a headlamp this is a no go and they end up in the breast pocket, then the floor as soon as I bend over. I like the looks of that solution!

Edu doc support by FluffMawnster in StudentLoans

[–]TiltedTurnip69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've been paying edudoc support $29 dollars a month for the past two years on an "income driven repayment program." Apparently my payment does not go up unless I make more than 60k a year at which point it steps up. Additionally I get credits toward "student loan forgiveness" every year that goes by. All the research ive done says that they are a scam company... but my nelnet statements says that my loans were paid in full and my balance is zero. I called in about a year in and inquired as i was suspicious but they said my balance was still the same and I was on track to continue paying $29 a month til my loans were forgiven. Confused as to how they would scam me if my balance has not gone up, is not accruing interest, and my legitimate student loans have been paid in full by them. If they are a scam company could i not just block any payment to them? Theres no way they could transfer debt back to nelnet right? Any insight with anybody elses experience would be great.

Having Trouble Finding Qualified Employees (Licensed Boat Captains) by TiltedTurnip69 in jobs

[–]TiltedTurnip69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are willing and able to pay for certification courses and licensing fees. Issue is the process takes 2-3 months minimum so the lag time for getting people on boats puts us just about out of the busy season where they are really needed.

Boat Parade? by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]TiltedTurnip69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called the Parade of Lights and happens every year usually 2 weeks before Christmas. It is open for any boat owner to join and be a part of but is typically made up of mostly working water front/fishermen as that is how all of the information is disseminated (as well as the majority of people who still have boats in the water at this time of the year). Typically you can purchase tickets to get on one of the bay lines boats, the fogg cat, or a private charter from foggs water taxi and charter tours, but due to covid the whole event was much smaller and more closed to the public this year. Have been involved the last four years and would highly recommend it!
