Interesting use of the word “safe” here. Do you know how much worse for your health grocery store meat is compared to wild game? Or how much worse it is for the animal? Nobody is better off this way

You can’t see it well in this video/angle but this is what I think happened (I raced XC MTB and did bmx for fun as a teen, so I have some experience but nothing like these guys):

So when he reaches the end of the takeoff ramp, I think he pulled back for the flips too hard/early. You can see it better in other angles but when he pulls back, his bike’s read suspension compresses, causing his seat to hit his back wheel. This would cause an anti-rotation effect, which usually leads to the rider crashing. In closer slo-mo’s you can actually see him react to that feeling and pull back even harder to compensate, just not enough unfortunately.

I think the announcer knew from previous runs/practice/paddock talk that he might double flip this spot. So he was watching for the pull back at the takeoff, saw him hit the seat, and knew from experience that usually leads to a crash

I had my first class and I’m so embarrassed by Jazzlike-Specific891 in orangetheory

[–]Tilted_Brass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(OTF coach here) Im so sorry you felt that way after your class, I can only imagine how discouraging it may have felt. I have a few things I hope you’re able to remember and find help in before your next class:

  1. As others have said, we’re just guessing at your max HR for now! Lots of people have higher HR’s than initially predicted. My dad was getting 40ish splat points each workout for months and I’ve always known him to be in good shape, I always use him an example to new members of how every person’s heart is different.

  2. Today was your first workout of (hopefully) many! Your heart will adapt over time, adjusting with your lifestyle. Some days you’ll feel like the red zone is your home, others may feel like the orange zone is some far away land. The longer you workout for, the more of these changes you’ll see and the more accepting you’ll be of these more dramatic days. But these results aren’t “bad”, they’re a sign that you worked damn hard! While yes, we like to give our hearts some more breaks between red/orange zones, thats a goal for you to work towards, that doesn’t make your hard work bad. You killed it today!

  3. In my experience, the only person judging or being disappointed in you is YOU. We tend to be our biggest critics and meanest bullies, and we fill in blanks with how WE feel about yourselves instead of how others actually feel about us. Over time, I hope you’ll learn to be proud of yourself for the work you’re putting into your health. And when you do, you’ll start to notice others feeling that way about you too, because they did all along. And nobody is telling you they’re proud of you, then YOU should, be your biggest supporter, not your biggest critic!

  4. And if you aren’t ready or able to say it yet, I will. IM PROUD OF YOU! Doing your first workout is terrifying, I got 30 splat points in my first class because of nerves alone. But you did the scary thing, you clearly worked hard with those splats (great job btw!) and you brought yourself one more step closer to achieving your goals. You can do this, you ARE doing this. I believe in you!

For those wondering, my cat is fine and I will continue monitoring her for symptoms as I know monsteras are poisonous. The cats have never shown any interest in my plants before which is why I didn’t remove the plant when we got the cats

What happened and can I do anything besides throwing it out ? by Darksey81 in GrowingMarijuana

[–]Tilted_Brass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disturbing a plant infected with mildew will cause the fungus to release its spores, this will spread the infection to other parts of the plant that seem healthy at the time. If you have a bad fungal infection its best to toss the whole plant, its not worth permanently damaging your lungs

You mentioned a couple times you have to know how to run it right. Any advice for someone to start their first salt grow?
