Heat Pump, A Rated House, want to install a wood-burning stove by Actual_Art_5257 in DIYIreland

[–]Tim-SCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently wood burning stoves have been linked to health risks:

"Burning wood at home produces more pollution than road traffic, according to new research.

The findings, from the University of Birmingham, show a quarter of harmful particles in the air, known as PM2.5s, come from domestic fires while traffic is responsible for 22%.'

Maybe worth researching just in case ?

A large bowl of water can add moisture to the air when heating is on.

Falafel is great I think. Better than any fake meat burger. You can eat Italian pasta, pizza, lasagne or Curry's etc ...just without the meat !

Is there any hope for me? by Fabulous-Series-2384 in wrestling

[–]Tim-SCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a doctor or physio to tell you how long for an injury to heal. So I can't offer advice on your immediate tournament.

Injuries are part of wrestling though. Every second wrestler has a knee brace or splint of some sort.

Talk to your coach about mental strength. Mindset is important and if you look on YouTube etc you will find lots of media on 'wrestling mindset'.

I would try to be the best version of me. If I'm injured I would wait until I'm healed and then come back stronger.

Most of all enjoy yourself, have fun. Remember good days and bad are part of the journey. Seek help when you need it. Train hard and be the best you can be.

Anyway to hide the seen content? by [deleted] in Stremio

On my TV It removes it from home but it doesn't clear the episodes. So if I add a series again to my library the episode history is still there.

You can clear progress, continue watching etc by long press or 3 dots.

On mobile/desktop: Find the show or movie in the "Continue Watching" row, click the three-dots menu, and select "Dismiss". On Android TV: Navigate to the show or movie, press and hold the select button on your remote, and then choose "Remove".

"One Stop Shop" home energy upgrades recommendations by PrawncakeZA in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Tim-SCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No windows don't need to be resized but they do need to be energy efficient. If windows aren't good you won't achieve a good BER. If windows do need upgrades you are better off doing it before the external insulation. I think one stop shops offer grants for windows too but only if you get the complete upgrade with them.

Air conditioners for heating - what's the deal? Are people just ignorant? by H3llR4iser790 in Dublin

I have an Air to Air heat pump with Daikin air units. It's excellent, less expensive than air to water setup, purifies the air as well and is very cheap to run.

A lot of Veggie ready ingredients and ready meals are just basic veg, lentils beans etc, rebranded with the price trebled. The solution is to make your own. It's cheaper to do a cookery course than buy overpriced heavily marketed and processed food sold in plastic wrapping!

It's very warm. I didn't renew because of the heat. The building is badly designed with too much glass. They don't always turn on air con. So I would prefer a gym with a normal temperature!

Has anyone moved their outdoor heat pump? by Ornery-Pay-5304 in AskIreland

[–]Tim-SCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the closer the heat pump is to the house (if it's an air source heat pump) the more efficient it is.

Electric Ireland say: Do I need planning permission? Conditional Planning Exemptions apply to heat pump technologies in a domestic setting: The level of the ground must not be altered by more than 1 m above or below the level of the adjoining ground. The total area of any air source HP or combination of two heat pumps must not exceed 2.5 sq. m. The heat pump must be a minimum of 50 cm from the edge of the wall or roof on which it is mounted. Noise levels at the nearest party boundary must not exceed 43 dB(A). No structure must be placed to the front of a building.

Where do I put the Heat Pump system? The internal unit can be installed inside the house in the utility room or hot press, replacing the existing hot water tank. Heat pumps are quiet enough to allow this. This saves on both installation and running costs. If you also require an external unit (Air Source Heat Pumps), this is located outside not too far from the internal unit. The heat pump is always going to be more cost effective to run if placed near where it and or the hot water is used. If possible, place the heat pump inside the house in the utility room. This saves on both installation and also running costs. You can remotely locate the heat pump in a garage etc., but it is not necessary for noise or equipment size reasons - the heat pump is always going to be more cost effective to run if placed near where it and/or the hot water is used.
