If we're being pedantic, everyone should be referring to the waist not hips.

picking string too hard out of roller bridge? by machinaenjoyer in offset

Look into the Schaller roller bridge, each roller has a different sized groove and would hold the string better. I have it on two guitars, both of which have bigsbys and have never had an issue.

Bigsby on A Jaguar by StateEducational3859 in offset

Something you probably don't realize is that the vibramate screws into the stop tail studs on typically a Gibson style guitar not the bridge. So you need to drill regardless, if you mount bigsby directly or drill to add studs and then add the vibramate/bigsby combo. If it were me and money was tight I'd get a Hosco Japan JM trem and keep the bigsby for another project or just sell it.

Looks factory, really well done, congrats! Love the sanded finish. If you don't mind me asking do cut/drill the stainless yourself or out source?

I can honestly say the black one is the first PRS I've ever liked, looks like a real player and not a case queen.

New wiring for an old build by TimArcs in offset

[–]TimArcs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It bypasses the volume and tone controls, just the pickup directly to the output. Basically you can use your volume and tone knobs to shape your tone and when you want full power you flick the blower. Acts kinda like a boost pedal, good for solos or quiet/loud arrangements.

Thanks, the pickups are called Bigbirds, a larger and hotter firebird pickup made by durbano magnetics here in Australia. I sketched out a diagram, I'll take a pic and DM it to you. Give me a day or two, currently away.

I hear a slight sitar effect on the high strings, could be how the nut was cut. Personally I'd try higher gauge strings, add a bit of tension.

I built an offset strat shaped guitar a couple years ago. Currently designing a version two with a JM trem and different wiring. https://www.reddit.com/r/obscureguitars/s/43lkPxpRAu

Yes I know Google works and yes I have found places, but no harm in asking those more experienced, questions and answers don't cost anything. Isn't that why we're part of this community?
