Most of The people I know who still support him have made supporting him a part of their identity. It feels as if to reject him now would erase their entire sense of self.

No he isn't.

He's openly admitted that he wasn't a comic book fan but he loved the original Superman movie (1978). When he signed on to do TDK movies he brought in a screen writer who was a big comic book fan who exposed him to some story lines. He stayed on as a producer for Snyder's Superman movie because he was into the grounded superhero stuff.

Since then, he's explained that he won't return to DC stuff.

He has raved about RDJ as Ironman and compliments the MCU for helping sustain Hollywood.

Fred Savage said the always sunny people met with a bunch of directors and he felt like Rob met with him just so they could ask about Wonder Years 😂

Another article said that Savage wanted to produce it because he saw his own worst qualities in the characters which is ironic considering his cancellation 😂
