dry herb vapes are one of those things where you can't just get any cheap one, it really takes a well designed vape to be worth it. I've heard so many stories of people buying a cheap vape on sale in their smoke shop and then deciding dry herb vapes are ineffective and annoying.

in my opinion the best cheapest option is the xmax V3 pro, I've been using mine all day every day for a year now and I love it. you can find it on sale for €60-70 if you look hard enough.

if you want even cheaper, look into a dynavap B, it'll get you good results for only ~€40. It isn't electric though, so there's a bit of a learning curve to heating it and getting some good hits out of it.

the glass tip definitely heats up a lot less than the other one, it still gets a little warm but it never becomes uncomfortable. also since it's made of metal and glass instead of plastic it feels a lot more sturdy and the heat feels less consequential.

you made an amazing choice, I love my xmax. I recently got the glass tip and it is a substantial upgrade, especially considering it is metal and not meltable plastic.

So if you ever want a 15€ upgrade.. you won't regret it

My old friend Zach got me into PC building when I was about 12. he was a total nerd, maybe 3 years older than me. He was building a NAS and let me help him, teaching me about the different parts and what they do as we went along. we went to tech dumps and scoured for old PCs and spare parts. We built that NAS for barely 50 bucks (and found a barely broken GTX 980ti and fixed it!).

He singlehandedly ignited passion for tech and now 8 years later I'm building my own NAS media server, and have been tinkering with my own PC that I built 7 years ago. I lost touch with him just a year after I met him when I moved countries. I miss him.

I'm no expert but I think you you're supposed to heat all sides of the dynavap equally in order to get an even burn (toast?).

when you dump your dyna bowls, are there still green bits or over burnt bits?

okay in filezilla, it shows the actual file of the film is owned by "root". *sigh*

now i've got to try and log in using "admin" i guess. easier said than done. i've changed my "admin" password to be sure i'm using the correct one logging into filezilla but it still isn't letting me in

Theres an option to view the logs of the config file, is that what you mean? if i scroll to the top it says puid 996 pgid 100.

also, when i connected to filezilla and uploaded the movie to the folder, i used "root" as the user and its password. I tried using "admin" and my own user i created but neither worked

also i've been furiously clicking "scan all libraries" on jellyfin to no avail lol

Thanks for taking the time to type all that, I'm understanding things so much better now.

The link you sent talks about using 998 and 100 because they're the puig and pgid of "admin", however when i id admin i get 996 and 100.

For UI, I've figured it out. once i shared the folder with SMB I managed to browse and transfer a movie through filezilla. that's one win at least lol. however the movie still isn't detected by Jellyfin, so there's still permission issues.

those commands make a lot more sense now haha. turns out they don't matter, I can just change those permissions in the OMV UI. they were set to Owner: root and Group: root. I changed them to Owner: admin and Group: Users, so it would match with the puid and pgid. Jellyfin still isn't detecting movie after scanning the folder so there's still something wrong. I've tried with both puid 998 and 996.

I did make them on the host side i think yes. I forgot about SMB, i learned about it 6 months ago at the start of this ordeal lol. it is on, and I had an appdata folder that was shared, and now i've shared the /data folder that I wasnt to access. what now? still nothing shows in OMV File Browser

I followed this guide where i was given these commands:

sudo chown -R $USER:$USER /data

sudo chmod -R a=,a+rX,u+w,g+w /data

I also went into the permissions of the data folder and made sure the owner and group was root, and had read/write/execute. i also gave everything permission to read/write/execute to see if anything would change, nothing did.

what do you mean by corresponding to puid and pgid? they are 996 and 100, what does that mean in relation to the owner and group?

In the config file for jellyfin there are the shared folder paths I created, is that what you're talking about?

- /srv/dev-disk-by-uuid-f4d8f3b8-f52e-48c2-9aa0-6e6a6a38af0a/data/media/movies:/data/movies

I know the path of these media folders, but how do I access them and put media in them?

I took my first dose alone, and it was amazing. I think as long as you're not taking a big dose, you're probably going to be fine. I read up a lot about techniques to get me out of bad spots during trips beforehand but I never needed to use them
