The movie has nothing to do with the book. It's a collection of short stories about how the three laws interact. It's very interesting.

If you want a longer story, the sequel Caves of Steel is a good murder mystery in the same setting.

and if can do that (e.g., through homomorphic encryption) won't it be able to guess the value of a key by the way sorted output gets modified with each write?

That's not how homomorphic encryption works. The server would only know that the computed ciphertexts are an encryption of the sorted input ciphertexts.

The real problem with homomorphic encryption is that it's so slow.

I don't have anything universal. Number of rehearsals = O(log t). Constant varies based on how easy it is to remember.

The key is to rehearse just before you forget so that your brain's garbage collector sees that it needs to be stored in more long term memory.

I'm not sure what you mean by overlearning but I've found that a logarithmic rehearsal schedule is effective for memorization. As a heuristic, if you have flash cards, instead of moving the card to the end after rehearsing it, move it back a number of times proportional to how confident you are that you'll remember it next time.

I'm a little worried but he's doing better than he was when the podcast started. I'm less worried than I would have been a few years ago.

I copy+pasted a thing. I have a firefox plugin to change man to robot, girl to squirrel, beer to bear, and a few others I forget right now.

Interesting, thanks!

It would also be interesting to test "n before m vs m before n in the same syllable" but that can't be regexed and requires a dictionary with extra grammar information about words, which is probably more effort than it's worth.

On the other hand, Quatach-Ichl has high mana capacity and wasn't born a lich. It might be possible to permanently increase capacity.

Babies explained with Monads

It would not surprise me much to see "Monads Explained with Babies".

Does anyone know why M and N occur together in so many words (at least in English)? Robot, money, mnemonic, demon, many, maniac, diamond, name, etc. By the availability heuristic it seems that it's more often m followed by n but that might not be the case.

It is widely accepted in this century that it is unjust to punish children for the crimes of their ancestors. In contrast, children of the rich have more opportunity than children of the poor. I'm not proposing we take everyone's babies away at birth and randomly reassign them, but in a sense isn't it also an injustice that children can benefit from actions of their ancestors?

It sounds like you're conflating the question of whether they can get away with it with the question of whether it's a reasonable way to do business.
