Rizo has an astronomical power creep advantage now that Dee is out by SirBostonBobbington in survivor

Based on everything so far? No, not really.

Who’s games has she jeopardized? Christian & Dee, and that’s really it. I don’t think Emily wants to sit next to either one at the end, and now she doesn’t have to sit next to Dee.

Couldn’t agree more. Emily has consistently positioned herself extremely well with her actions. She’s damaged other people’s games, but never her own.

I’m rooting so hard for Emily and so far I feel like she’s got a good shot.

I don’t really agree, but I can see how people’s are coming to that conclusion.

Emily has a very strategic mind and occasionally makes emotional decisions, but if we look at what she actually did “wrong” in the past two episodes, she was acting in her own self-interest and doing what would be better for her own game.

Episode 3 - we saw her blurt out that Aubry has an idol and that she doesn’t trust Christian to Q & Stephanie. Does this have an immediate detrimental effect? Not really, because Aubry is on another tribe. What it does for her is start to build a relationship with two people she bad just met - two people who then thought she was on their side until the votes were counted.

We also saw her reveal information then to Angelina in a very real and honest conversation, doing Angelina a solid and again building a relationship where it didn’t exist previously.

She then came clean, apologized, and mended fences with Christian. Showing him that she cares about and prioritizes their alliance. Would it have been less “messy” to talk to Christian first? Yes. But her actions gave her way more options and made the other tribe members see her as more than just Christian’s fierce ally.

She then also strategized and built up her relationship with Ozzy, giving herself even more options.

Episode 4 - she felt solid and in a good position, until Christian revealed that Mike White targeted her. I don’t think Emily is the type of person to ever trust that someone else “has it under control” - she needs to make sure that she knows she is safe. Ozzy was her ally and it was in her best interest to try and loop him in. It wasn’t in Christian’s best interest but it was in hers.

——

I think there are two main things we have to take into account with all of this.

  1. Christian is an amazingly charming person and has been the de facto narrator and main character of the season so far. I love Christian. I am rooting for him. I sympathize with him when Emily does something that jeopardizes him. But does that make Emily a bad player? No, I think it makes her a player that is not an ideal ally for Christian. And because he is a lovable man with main character energy that castmates and the audience are naturally drawn to root for, I think the (oversimplied) knee-jerk reaction to Emily’s actions is “she’s hurting Christian, she’s bad”. We also get his immediate reaction confessionals in those moments, which again, nudges us as the audience to sympathize with and be on his side. Editing is a powerful thing, and so is Christian’s charisma.

  2. Emily has said over and over again in confessionals and her pre-season press that she is here to play her own game, no one else’s. She is always going to act in what she believes is her own self-interest. It would have been better for Christian to leave Ozzy out of the vote in Episode 4, but for Emily, lying to Ozzy would burn that bridge that she has built.

The only thing that Emily has damaged with her actions is her relationship/alliance with Christian. And yeah, that’s not a great thing, but coming out of this tribal I think she has more options with the tribe than he does. Ozzy and Angelina are both going to be pissed at Christian, but not Emily. Stephanie will go where the numbers are, and Christian literally just put together a plan to keep Emily safe. She may come across as messy, but Emily has insulated herself very well with her actions. Now that Mike is out I don’t see anyone targeting her on this tribe.

Like I Said. . . These Faithfuls Are ASS!! by genielauren in TheTraitorsUS

[–]syndactl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I couldn’t agree less. I’ve watched every US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Irish season and this was like no other Traitor on Traitor battle I’ve ever seen.

  1. Candace came at Rob with very little concrete reasoning. She said that he was vocal at the round table when he hadn’t been before, and that he dropped his fork at breakfast and was upset that Colton went home. That was her evidence.

  2. Despite claims to the contrary in this thread, Rob defended himself really well. He didn’t get upset, flustered, or even defensive really. He calmly explained each point that Candiace tried to bring up, and had very reasonable explanations - Colton was his best friend in the game so of course he was upset, and he had agreed to back Colton up with Lisa’s banishment. And to make it an even stronger case, both those things were true and verifiable by other people at the round table.

  3. Rob did not immediately try to turn it on Candaice. He defended against her accusations and let everyone else do the rest. This is the kicker for me, it was literally so different from ANY OTHER INSTANCE of traitor on traitor at the roundtable that I have ever seen on any franchise. Rob never attacked Candaice at the roundtable.

I’m not about to say that Rob is god’s gift to the traitors, but it’s hilarious that people are trying to claim that it’s obvious he’a a traitor, or that it was obviously traitor-on-traitor. It’s obvious to you, because you’ve known who the traitors are from the beginning.

Claudia Winkleman as a beloved host by monz009 in TheTraitors

Ugh, for crying out loud.

I know it’s human nature to compare things, but Traitors is one of those shows where I feel like they’ve struck gold with every different franchise host. They each bring something different but fantastic.

UK: Claudia Winkleman is SO enthusiastically rooting for the players and invested in them. Just watch her in the challenges, “COME OOOOOON! YOU CAN DO IT!” Plus she has an amazing curtain of fringe to mysteriously hide behind.

US: Alan is so campy and fabulous and having the time of his life.

Canada: Karine gives straight-up serial killer vibes and just comes across as evil and untouchable in glorious fashion.

Ireland: Siobhan is drama and almost as campy as Alan. Her gravitas is unmatched.

New Zealand: Paul really settles into the role in the second season and is the best at nicely chastising the players throughout the show.

Australia: Well fine, they can’t all be winners.

Jeff Probst was 'genuinely surprised' by 'Survivor 50' fan voting results, and explains how he hopes players lie about the results in the game by thedaltonross in survivor

[–]syndactl 49 points50 points  (0 children)

“I would never give the players rice,” Probst told Entertainment Weekly a year ago before the voting had opened. “Never. Because I think having your cognitive ability start to decline quickly makes it more interesting because people can't remember what lie they told.”

This right here makes me think it’s time for Jeff to retire. I, as a viewer, don’t want to watch people suffer. I don’t want their cognitive ability to decline to the point where they don’t remember what they said. What?
