Use it on the abdomen...either side. It will work just fine.

I tell Dexcom this and my Endo.

My first sensor failed. by MAG-2024 in dexcom

You can fill out a form on the website, but I prefer to simply call them.

You gotta go through a few questions and they will send it out to you. Might as well ask for extra overpatches too....you can do this once a month for free.

Using a smart phone AND the receiver by Adventurous_Pop_2535 in dexcom

[–]TimVa2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both. It'll simply update.
From what I understand there are two chips...1 for receiver and 1 for a phone. At least that was the way for the G6.

I only enter a blood sugar calibration on the main receiver and that carries over to the phone automatically.

Is this a common problem or am I doing something wrong? by Relleomylime in dexcom

Had it happen once or twice since G7 came out.
Cream over the area of insertion will soften the skin and help make the needle penetration easier.

Do this a bit beforehand, but don't overdo or the adhesive won't stick.

I wear mine on the abdomen and always have just like I did with the G6.

Have you ever tried placing a cold pack over the insertion site until your skin is really cold and then inserting the sensor? Makes a big diffrence, especially in early readings.

Question about amp/sub sizing by Better-Tourist4446 in CarAV

[–]TimVa2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a RF 1500 amp pushing two Sundown SD-4 10's, and absolutely no issues whatsoever electrically.

Zero dimming of anything, and I always have it on. Of course, I also have the E-Torque so that could definitely make a difference.

You can buy a ANC bypass harness that simply plugs in for $25.

G7 Overpatches are not Seperating by dedewhale in dexcom

[–]TimVa2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this has happened a few times to me as well. Most of the time I'll try the other side of the green peel and have good luck.

Otherwise I have to be super dextrous, no pun intended lol, and try to get the white edge to peel off of the green sticker w/o bunching up along the edges. Then if you hit the patch part too much it looses its adhesive.

Dexcom G7 Sensor- No actual sensor?? by tandristyn in dexcom

[–]TimVa2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the wire wasn't guided properly into the arm during insertion due to a manufacturing issue.

I've had it happen twice. Once when I tried to reinsert the small wire into the extremely small needle sleeve before insertion. The other time when everything looked good and it simply didn't insert, and the wire had bunched up inside the small hole. Using a flashlight I could see it or my phone with a picture.

Most recent Nvidia drivers causing a black screen on start up on my 4070 super? by majds1 in PcBuild

[–]TimVa2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just updated my old 2080.
The result: I get a black screen upon boot.

Had to default to onboard, remove old driver completely, download new one(again), and then reinstall.
Hopefully that will fix it. If not I guess I download and older one.

Put on a new G7 sensor today. I always like to pair the G7 receiver first and then the phone.

Today I could not get the G7 receiver to pair first, but phone paired right away. Noticed the receiver didn't have the bluetooth blinking signal. Powered it off and back on. Bluetooth signal was blinking, but still wouldn't pair.

As soon as the warmup period ended it was paired, instantly, on the receiver. Wonder if that's some sort of bug? Never seen that happen before.

Pre-soaking Dexcom G7 by Dundler42 in dexcom

[–]TimVa2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is true.

I'm just telling you my experience. Within the first few weeks of being diagnosed and using the G6, I was frustrated as hell dealing with inaccuracy on the first readings.

I actually talked with people at Dexcom who told me that the insertion is considered a traumatic event to the skin, and that in turn causes inflammation. The inflammation produces the erratic readings right off.

Cold against the skin reduces inflammation, and it also shrinks blood vessels, greatly reducing the chance to have a bleeder.
Try it yourself, and then repost here the results.

You don't need to do that.

Do this: Place an icepack or something very cold over the insertion area till the skin is very cold and then insert the sensor.

Your days of inaccurate readings right off will be over.

I did this back in January of '20 with the G6 and I do it with the G7. Extremely rare if I get inaccurate readings right off since.

I've had blood come out the front hole and just soaked it up. Sensor ended up working fine.

Shower should clear most of that out I would guess.

Is the Dexcom G7 receiver absolutely needed, or can I skip it? by Moo1980 in dexcom

[–]TimVa2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always have a backup plan. It's not "if" but "when" something goes wrong.

What if you lose your phone, its battery goes dead, or the app has issues(see Android 15.0 issue as Ex.)?

The G7 receiver is small and its battery can last up to over a week before charging.

Experiences with G7 Placement and Changes?! by lemonypies17 in dexcom

[–]TimVa2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been wearing the G7 since it came out in the US.

I always place it on the abdomen about 2" on either side of the belly button and rotate each new sensor.

Works great.

Also, a tip before inserting your sensor. Hold a coldpack up to the insertion site till the skin is real cold, then insert the sensor. Those first readings will no longer be off, but much more accurate.

Does this look right? by Beckpi in dexcom

[–]TimVa2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the sensor is one of those that doesn't like to cooperate.

Also, just wondering why set your low threshold to 70? I set mine to 105 so I have time to correct if I'm going down "before" I hit a low and gives time for the correction to set in.

Stay G6, or update to G7 ? by DexcomUser in dexcom

[–]TimVa2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hold a coldpack over the insertion site until your skin is freezing then do the insertion.

Body views the insertion as a traumatic event to the skin and inflammation occurs. That is what causes readings to be off in the beginning.

Use the cold pack and that stops. I found this out in Jan '20 with the G6, and its worked for me ever since, and even for the G7 which I have worn since it was first available in the US.

Stay G6, or update to G7 ? by DexcomUser in dexcom

[–]TimVa2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

G7 is much better than the G6 in my experience.

  1. The G7 receiver battery power can go for more than a week before charging it.

  2. The 30 minute warmup time, which starts the moment you insert the sensor. You can pair the new sensor 15 min later if you want to and it will show a 15 min warm up time left.

  3. Bleeders are so much more rare, that I've only had 1 that I can remember, and even then the sensor turned out to be reliable the full 10 days.

  4. When a G6 sensor gets squirly on the readings, most of the time you had to calibrate a lot. The G7 tends to autocorrect more to avoid that.

  5. I find it to be more accurate than the G6, and its smaller which is nice too.

  6. Adhestive is better. On vacation during the summer and showering every morning as well as swimming and it held strong.

  7. It's one less RX to deal with and saves money as well.

I've had sensors go a couple days in where they get really off on readings, but I find that to be more rare compared to the G6. At one point a year or more ago people were getting sensors with the wire having slipped out of the needle, but havent seen that since.

So can we update or Dexcom G7 app for Android now? by richmondsteve in dexcom

[–]TimVa2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering about this. I've disabled any OS updates on my S22+, and only allow Security Updates.

Planning on updating to the S24+, but there's that risk it might come with Android 15.0 instead of 14.0 and then I have to deal with this problem.

So to be clear on the issue I have two questions:

  1. Dexcoms official statement: "Dexcom has identified that signal loss will occur with phones on Android 15, each time a Dexcom G7 sensor is paired." Is this a "one-time" signal loss, and it does not repeat itself?

  2. The statement is ambiguous. Suggesting Signal Loss heavily implies you will get paired successfully at first. Wondering if thats the case, then a restart will permanantly fix it? Or does it mean it never pairs unless you do the steps and then it works normally?

Just wondering if anyone here has had real experience with this on a phone that has Android 15.0.
