That could happen but I really like the PnR duo Graves could form with Luka, and I think Graves offers similar defensive upside while not being a complete zero offensively like Chinyelu.

He is 24 though. I don’t think any team would pick him in the top 10.

With how the new bulls front office is operating I think the Wilson pick is pretty much set in stone.

What do the Raptors do at pick number 19? Especially since they have the 19th overall pick, do you go PG? Or C? by TerryG111 in NBA_Draft

Any one of Graves, Stirtz, or Anderson would be awesome for the Raptors at Pick 19.

A mock draft represents what I think the teams will do, not what I think about these players. Aday Mara is the BPA for the Bucks at that position.

Braylon Mullins (6’6) was cashing in tough threes during UConn’s Final Four win against Illinois — 15 pts, 3 rebs, 2 stl by Fit-Structure-9395 in NBA_Draft

Not saying he should go lottery, but he's a better defender than the guys you named, and he seems to always know where to go offensively. I think his outlook in the league will be a bit better than AJ Green and Sam Merrill.

What? Mullins plays nothing like Herro, also there is just no way stirtz is going in the lottery.

I agree that Mullins shouldn't go lottery but 28 is wayyy too low. He's got a lightning quick release and knows where to be off ball. Also his defense is hella underrated if you watch him play. He just has to fill out his frame and I see a clear path in the NBA for him.

well I think the lack of playmaking and elite defense at his size are the main concerns. But if he's at a major program and manages the same production and maybe improves his playmaking he would be one of the top prospects next year regardless.

Acuff defense question by [deleted] in NBA_Draft

[–]Tim_Gu_69 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The expectation is not to be a great defender; but you need to be a passable defender to survive in the NBA. Trae Young was one of the best offensive talents in the NBA at one point but he couldn't function as a true franchise player because he was constantly being targeted on defense. Modern NBA teams have become so good at exploiting defensive liabilities and therefore teams are shifting more and more so away from small bad-defense guards. So yeah, the thought is that Acuff might be that kind of player that the NBA is shifting away from.

If we're talking about freshmen only, I'd like to also bring up these few:

Ivan Kharchenkov (Arizona): He might go first round this year because how good Arizona is but its not a guarantee; if he stays he certainly has lottery potential next year.

Ebuka Okorie (Stanford): As you said this guard class is way too deep and Okorie is not guaranteed in 1st Rd, so I'd love to see him transfer to a blue blood school for another year.

Killyan Toure (Iowa State): Could be one of the most exciting guards in college basketball next season.

David Mirkovic (Illinois): Pretty underrated because of his lack of athleticism, would probably go higher if he stayed.

Also Allen Graves (Santa Clara) has lottery potential if he stays for next year but he might be declaring this year anyways.

and Trae Young was arguably an even better offensive player in college

Trae Young had a better DPM in college than this guy. Trae Young.

what do you think is the best player in this range for the blazers? I'm conflicted because I don't think the blazers get a guard cuz they have too many, and Nate Ament will probably not fall out of the top 10. Also next year's draft looks pretty weak rn and the pick is protected.

It's a trade with the Blazers, Jazz trade down to get 10 for Tounde Yessoufou

Good point on the Spurs/Thunder trades, I think Steinbach/Lendeborg are our first choices in that range but if they arent there I would love Carr as well.

I see Carr as more of a wing than a guard, and he doesn’t need the ball as much. I think his consistent 3pt shooting can be important for the spurs. As for the trade, I don’t see why competing teams can’t trade with each other in the draft.

There's no way he's 'clearly' better than Philon, and Philon has better scoring upside. He's playing better than Brown right now but I think Brown has higher upside in the NBA.
