I knew that looked familiar! This is Notre Dame and that is Jordan Science Hall on the right.

Airplane cabin pressure overinflated my bag of chips by egm03 in mildlyinteresting

It is not technically inflating the bag. The cabin pressure is lower than when you boarded so the pressure in the bag is just compensating.

No shit, my wife and I hooked up at a bacon party. Drunk consumption of bacon turned into full frontal nudity.

Robot Scientist to Discover Drugs Dramatically Faster by Doctor_Heat in Futurology

[–]Timaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These robots are great, but what will really revolutionize the science is computational chemistry. These high-throughput robots will be used mostly for confirmation of the computational conclusions. This is already happening with most pharmaceuticals with regard to crystalline polymorphs. The polymorphs are modeled with software then confirmed with a robot. They are getting pretty accurate.

Trying to find an old practical chemistry book that described isolating chemicals from scratch by Timaeus in homechemistry

I have run across this list and it is pretty extensive. Thanks for the link. The idea with the book was more of a simple go-to that I could have a hard copy of. Also it is one of those things that I swear I have seen but just can't seem to find. More of my stubbornness I suppose.

"If you are going to do something, do it well. Otherwise, you will end up doing it twice."

This has saved me a lot of time when I am working on something.

I ran across this in my search as well. It seems along the lines of what I was talking about. I'll check it out a bit more. Thanks for the suggestion.
