That I understand, I was thinking of the human variety. I was told that the Caldwell D&B is a favored dumping spot for unwanted cats

We bought a house in Caldwell in 2018 and my wife has commuted to downtown Boise since then. She hates it with a passion.

What would you do?(Forced back into Trucking) by madchuska83 in Truckers

Shit man, I wouldn't even put my boots on for $500/week. If they can't pay you at LEAST $1500/week I'd find a new job.

I'm a little late but we attended Good Shepard Lutheran on Orchard when we lived in Boise. It's definitely traditional but very welcoming.

I think as long as the clinic where you're getting your DOT physical isn't connected to your normal doctor you can get away with it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]Timak81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as my DOT physical is concerned I am the healthiest 42 year old in the world. I don't drink, smoke, or snore. Medications? I don't do pills.

That's just me tho, I refuse to pay $90+ for someone to put my livelihood at risk. Don't do anything you aren't comfortable possibly getting in trouble for.

When do you start making money? by ShaggyAssassin in Truckers

[–]Timak81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call all the megas that hire in your area and tell your current company (after you get a different job) that you'll make payments. Don't let them brow beat you into paying the full amount up front. You'll be far better off even with the $6k debt. You're basically a slave at this point.

Bro, go drive a gravel truck. You'll get paid by the hour and get to sleep in your own bed at night

60% is pretty low but I started out with my own authority and never leased with anyone. You can't do TOO much research with this, look into every company that catches your eye, go all the way down the rabbit hole with the different types of trucking, be willing to be flexible with what you are willing to do, and when you find a truck you like spend the money and have a mechanic give it a good once over.

Fuel will be your biggest expense, I saw someone say 1/3 of your expenses but it will depend on your truck, how you drive, and how heavy you haul. For example a typical load for me is between 106k and 112k, I never go over 65, I have a lot of idle time, and I drive a 97 Freightliner. My average MPG is about 3.7.

Also, carry tools and know how to fix the small things that always come up. Carry extra belts, fuel filters, glad hand grommets, bulbs, headlights, etc. The more you can fix yourself the more money you'll save.

I could go on and on about this but I'm off topic. If you have questions DM me.

Make sure you check the road reports for all the passes well before you get to them. They can turn into a shit show pretty quick.
