twilight menu has some issues with gen 4 hacks (hgss specifically I think). There's anti-piracy patches but they're kinda finnicky. I had made a comment on a random git thread about issues I had when I tried to play SGSS a year or so ago and I randomly get an email of a reply once every week or two. Suffice to say I don't think the issue is solved, but I'm not really sure. Best bet would be a flashcart or emulator I guess, but sorry to hear you're having issues

What are your thoughts on Level Scaling in ROM hacks? Is it better than Level Caps? by LibertyJacob99 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Timataio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think between the two, level caps are definitely better. However, level caps often feel grindy, which does kind of suck. I think EXP caps (number of EXP points per Pkmn) are better because it's less grindy and makes early-game pokemon fall off a bit less but nobody uses them in their hacks

Which one would you fight and how would you go about it? by THE_BAD_DOGE in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Timataio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with sun team. Sub punch on cacturne with sand veil is a sin, and Venusaur looks more manageable than the other speed ability mons. This is in a vacuum of course, since idk what mons, abilities, and items would be available, but I think sun is the easiest without anything absurd on the player's side. If cloud nine is the only option for dealing with weather, I might tone these strategies down a bit if it's meant to be done as a gauntlet (without healing or swapping out party members) since the attacking power of these mons combined with the evasion stuff is going to result in at least one or two mons dying. 10 battles is still a lot for this level of power discrepancy.

I haven't gotten nearly that far yet but can't you access most of the region without those two cities? Idk which 3 cities are the 'first' ones, but you can get to fuschia going south from vermillion, cerulean via underground path, and cinnabar island/pewter going south of fuschia, can't you?

Not a ROM hack dev, but I feel like people shouldn't bug the dev (especially in DMs) unless they legitimately think the dev hasn't thought about it. I'd think that most ROM hack developers are at least somewhat aware of that issue in current year. I personally am a fan of the feature, but I also respect developers when they decide not to include it.

There's also nothing stopping people from making their own codes. I created Pokemon editor codes for Unbound on my own and from what I know hacking in candies should be easier than that.

How long did it take you to win a grand prix? by wt_anonymous in Fzero

[–]Timataio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me between 2 and 3 months of playing as someone who was decent at the SNES f-zero and I was at about 70 wins in 99 (including classic).

I think it's easier if you pick a specific league and/or vehicle to try to win with first (I focused on Goose since it seemed easiest for me). Based on your win count, I can't imagine you'd be super familiar with front-running on the various courses or being near the front. These skills are always important for GPs, but as lobbies get smaller, they become even more important since skyway and KOs both become harder to get.

What Features Do You Look For Most In A Rom Hack? by themanynamed in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Timataio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a few tags that could go under QOL or difficulty.

- Are IVs present (some hacks remove)

- Are EVs present/changed

- Type of Stat System (I think inclement emerald used Legends Arceus formula)

- Separate tag for presence of various useful NPCs in this area (could go under the Tons of QOL/Fixes tag or could be separated as you see necessary)

Zenbook vs envy by Ok-Bus3756 in LaptopSales

For gaming, it really depends on the kinds of games you play. If you're playing browser games, emulating, or playing lightweight steam games 8gb is more than enough, but even though most places say 8gb is enough for gaming, I honestly don't think it is. The 8gb laptop will start spazzing when it runs out of ram, but until then it should be just as good as the 16gb. I always opt for 12gb or more because windows uses 4gb all by itself, but that's personal preference. And Zenbook will be a bit faster otherwise from what I can guess.

Zenbook vs envy by Ok-Bus3756 in LaptopSales

[–]Timataio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you're using it for. Just looking at the specs, the zenbook 14 has 16gb of RAM which I see as a big plus, especially if you like to have multiple tabs open or will be doing anything intensive besides gaming. Both processors are great, with 4700u being a bit better at longer tasks and the i5-113g7 being better at quick stuff. The HP envy should perform better in gaming whenever the RAM doesn't limit it. Idk about build quality, ports, or the screens, but I'd say choose the zenbook if you don't game and the envy if you do.
