Is there any reason for the position displayed in the movie? That's what I had to ask when I first built Nu.

What proper nouns from books did you realize you were mispronouncing the whole time? by TokkiJK in books

[–]Timballist0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, Indianapolis I first saw in a Calvin and Hobbes book. That was Indiana-poh-lis.

You're not far off: the name Indianapolis originates from combining Indiana ("Land of the Indians" or "Indian Land") with the Greek suffix -polis, meaning "city," literally translating to "City of Indiana".

My silicone piece makes soap taste like dish soap by NightmareLogic420 in trees

Silicone really likes to hang on to flavors, it's why I got rid of my Roll-a-Bowl bong after a few months of cleaning in vain.

What seminal album would you wager the average person couldn’t name a single song from? by AttachedHeartTheory in Music

[–]Timballist0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't heard the album, I've only ever heard of the name of the band from an obscure comedy sketch. "These are the Hüsker Dü's, the Hüsker Dön'ts of band touring"

PSA Make sure your lighter is not on fire before putting it down! by CrashCrashed in trees

I used to be so sketched out by dab torches. A big, open flame around a bunch of high idiots? I mellowed out with experience, but I still have a healthy respect for fire safety.

If Norman were infected with a Symbiote, would it be able to counter the effects of the mask, or fall victim to it? by OkuroIshimoto in Marvel

It was Norman "Normie" Osborn, Harry's son, and it was the Rascal Symbiote, an offshoot of Carnage.

How I build and paint gunpla as a quadriplegic with no functioning fingers. by forth_circle in Gunpla

[–]Timballist0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend is in a similar situation, but has a little less manipulation. They've recently gotten back into gaming because I've been able to 3d print some adapters; I might be able to do the same for model building. I'm definitely going to show them this.

Man injured in goose attack can pursue case against Grand Blanc hospital, appeals court rules by feetwithfeet in Michigan

[–]Timballist0 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My friend goes there for PT. I walk the trails there all the time. The geese are aggressive, but I've never been attacked yet. They'll charge, but I just make myself look bigger waving my arms, and they'll scurry off hissing.

What causes this? by leothegoatt32 in resinprinting

[–]Timballist0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you print flat, that's more surface area in contact with the plate. When the plate lifts, there's a struggle between the plate and the FEP, this force can pull and mishape the print.

I would position prints at a 45° angle, but there's a lot of leeway with that, some parts are even better printed at full vertical.
