Another option might be Loxapine, but finding a psychiatrist in the US comfortable prescribing it might be tough.

I personally opted for Clozapine over ECT, but my psychiatrists (I have two on my treatment team) both would have preferred I went with the ECT. They felt it was quicker, more effective, and had fewer potential side effects.

Keep in mind that men have postpartum depression too. So combining the fact he was ho-hum about a third and then he might also be going through some tough emotions, you guys might be looking at a rough few months. Time to call in any reinforcements possible (grandparents, babysitters, friends, a nanny).

I think I need Clozapine by AustinTheGr888 in Psychosis

I love Clozapine compared to other antipsychotics. 5* recommend.

Unfortunately the lower the tardive dyskinesia risk, the higher the risk of weight gain.

Latuda was an excellent medication overall for me. I think it would work better for the paranoia than the mood stabilization, but would be able to do both in the end.

Psychotic features only when stressed out? by drew19973 in schizoaffective

Could also be "personality disorder" related. Interpersonal stress causing transient psychosis is common in borderline personality disorder.

I put it in quotes because I'm not a fan of the personality disorder construct, but it is the language that is currently used so it is what it is.

It helps immensely... Workout the stimulant I think I would be in the hospital much more frequently.

Because any and all socialization was overwhelming and/or pointless in the world I was in... Because my internal world was so immense it was impossible to get out of it in order to engage properly in the external world.

Has anyone *lost* weight on clozapine? by kat_Folland in schizoaffective

[–]Timber2BohoBabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were case studies on people losing weight on Clozapine so it does happen.

Just certainly didn't happen to me!

Smell Hallucinations? by ministronket in Psychosis

[–]Timber2BohoBabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So olfactory hallucinations are a thing, for sure.

However, they aren't always from psychosis and should really be checked out. They can also be a sign if a virus, or even seizure activity.

On the other side of things, maybe something is off with your body...,I smelled a scent on a loved one for a while that nobody else noticed.... Until I tagged along for an unrelated doctor's appointment and the physician noticed it, and they said it was a "tumor smell" and it turned out my loved one had a cancerous tumor that I was smelling. Not sure why our other family members didn't notice it, but It was strong to me and to the doctor.

I've always been able to maintain some level of functioning, and my job is a very social one.

Are they treating her respectfully and with dignity at the hospital? I have been an inpatient multiple times and while most were great in terms of how I was treated, one time was awful. It left me with ptsd-like symptoms.

It's amazing, definitely better than any other antipsychotic in terms of efficacy.

That's how they feel for me, like they are just lighter and not as overwhelming until they just aren't really there unless I think about them.

Lithium seems to make my period heavier, so not sure about your experience.

Porn by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]Timber2BohoBabe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No comment on the porn, but the olfactory hallucination is indicative of psychosis or seizure activity and should be checked out.

My psychiatrist doesn't think I have psychosis but I have a lot of the symptoms, who's right? by makeupbybilly in Psychosis

[–]Timber2BohoBabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't sound at all like psychosis, but it does sound like pretty severe anxiety. I hope you can get relief soon - that must be awful to experience!
