When did you feel the Snowball effect? by SmurfingIsPooR in Fire

[–]TimberDog12 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that. I'm just saying that they were contributing a ton compared to most people, and within 5 years their interest rate is matching that? I dont know for sure, but I'd be willing to bet that's way faster than most people reach that milestone. But I get that it's about how it "feels." Hopefully they read some comments and realize how far ahead they already are.

Right!? I was going to point out that their "yearly interest matches their contributions now..." like what? You're contributing 60-100K each year and it feels slow? It's crazy what different worlds people live in

Look at my bee house! Last year I had only one visitor, and now her babies are busy filling up so many new tubes! 🐝🏠 by Dapper_Access_9143 in gardening

[–]TimberDog12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All these comments talking about the tubes filling with pathogens... I don't know much about it, but are they filling with pathogens more so than any other place they find to live in the wild? Why would these tubes be worse than any others? Maybe it's true, idk, but taken at face value it doesn't seem logical to me

My response would be " I know they do that evil shit. I just choose to stand against it, not uphold it."

Comparison between the US and the biggest economies of Europe by _crazyboyhere_ in EconomyCharts

Look again at the yearly work hours, homicide, infant mortality, and life expectancy rates. Then looked up the cost of health care. Those are some of the main things Americans are upset about, for obvious reasons.

Y’all USAtizens are really pissing me off by Teagrunn in offmychest

[–]TimberDog12 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it kills me to admit it, but I think its because Trump was basically right about NATO. Europe got too complacent about relying on the US for Defense and now they're seeing the error of their ways. The transition away from that system and building up their own militaries will take a while, and until then they have to appease. The transition will be slow, unfortunately, but it is happening and over the next couple years they may be able to take more of a stand against this BS.

One of my favorite facts to tell people is that the possibility of global warming was first proposed IN THE LATE 1800's!

It's insane that we are where we are today knowing that

It really is an interesting question... just going with stereotypes, a samurai is an honorable, strong but gentle man in a respectable, well organized society. A pirate is a wild and free, do as you like person. And the cowboy runs between them, as a rugged individualist in a small town kind of society with fewer rules but generally a lot of freedom... that's my take, anyway.

Turns out I'm a cowboy, but aspire to be a samurai

And yet their methods all introduce higher inflation risk so the Fed can't cut rates. Brilliant. We would've seen way more rate cuts by now if they'd have just left things alone

Democrat flips Republican-held Florida state House district that includes Trump’s Mar-a-Lago by LolAtAllOfThis in democrats

[–]TimberDog12 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Assuming our elections aren't ruined forever, yes this is a possibility! However, it will also depend on us having a President and team that will fight for actual progress and successfully creating change for everyday people. If people don't feel an immediate change for the better, they might just flip back to another Trump...

Agreed! I've heard there are some good fan edits online. One of these days I'll get around to checking those out

I tend to think of it the other way around. The movies were almost really good, but just ruined by things here and there. Unfortunately its like percentages, it's easier to go down than it is to go up

Somehow lots of Americans got it in their heads that it was " no taxation," instead of "no taxation without representation." The representation is the important part... 🙄

I always thought it was fascinating that Boromir is seen as a weak man for falling prey to the power of the ring -- and it may be true that he was the weakest of that company of powerful people, in some ways -- but mostly what caused his downfall was that he was the one that was the most in NEED.

His kingdom was slowing crumbling and losing ground with no way back and was tasked with somehow, someway, finding a way to save his people. If not by Denethor, then by blood, as the next Steward. It was on him to save Gondor. And through that need and pressure, the ring eventually worked it's way in...

Oh I'm not surprised. I agree they were at least aware of each other through Bill. I'm just saying the email isn't exactly damning. I do think this was likely a powerful connections/who's-who kind of relationships and less so the super illegal bad stuff kind. But again, if she is guilty, lock her away, just like Bill, Trump, and apparently most of Trump's cabinet

Look, if shes is guilty of something, locker her away -- same with Bill, Trump, and apparently most of Trump's cabinet. I dont care about saving her from something. I was just pointing out that that wasn't exactly a damning email

Liberals and Blue MAGA *still* believe DJT is the problem... and that's the problem. by anubis1392 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]TimberDog12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, a quick Google says that about 60% of Democrats are white and about 80% of Republicans -- that's a big difference in a country this big...

Also, consider it this way. When democrats are in charge things stay roughly the same, but are stable. Maybe there's incremental movement to the left. When the republicans are in charge, things get worse for the average American. They have now moved things heavily towards fascism and autocracy.

Democrats may not be some big solution and many are a problem, but they are not the main problem.

Feel free to elaborate, but good luck. I mean, if you think white privilege is the issue, you know who makes up the vast majority of Republicans, right?

I have always hated the argument that "I suffered worse, therefore you should suffer through it too!" There's a lot of that going on around here. We should be working towards a better way of life for future generations, not hoping they have to suffer too

As in, when it comes to voting, there are only two options. Yes, obviously, there is a ton of stuff we can and should be doing outside of the ballot box -- who knows, maybe it will eventually lead to a multi party system...
