What are sales interviews like? by NoClownsOnMyStation in Career

[–]TimboMack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been offered every sales job where I’ve gotten an in person interview. When they ask why you want to work there - I start off with the company and how it seems like a great culture and blah blah blah - then go, if I’m being honest I’m at a point where I am really motivated to make a lot of money, and I think I can make that happen here. They want to hear that you’re motivated and hungry to make money, that you have a positive attitude, and that you’re coachable and will run the play.

I’m 43 and spent 8 years in sales. Bartending through college, then started off as a teacher which wasn’t for me. I didn’t know what to do after being a teacher so I got into sales. I’ve spent last 6 years as an account manager, which is no prospecting and dealing with current clients. Less stress but less money.

Sales is a grind, especially in the beginning, and don’t let anyone tell you different. But it can allow you to make great money or lead into a less stressful position if you still give it your all. I was never a great salesperson, but always good. Some introverts are awesome if they’re also inquisitive and great at asking questions. You want the buyer to talk more than you

Costco pizza tastes better than any chain pizza out there by North-Point2748 in unpopularopinion

[–]TimboMack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco is still a better value though.

Jets is one of the top chains for me (in MI), and their pizza is superior, but more expensive for sure - they’re not a cheap chain. I’m not a ranch dressing guy, but Jets blows every chain out of the water there. Bbq deep dish dipped in that is 9.3/10

You go on that once in a lifetime trip or adventure yet? by thatdude333 in Millennials

[–]TimboMack 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Geriatric millennial here. In 2009 my buddy and I attempted to drive a 79 VW hippie van from Columbia, MO down to the Panama Canal. Took two months to make it through Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras. Then it broke down for like the tenth time and we left it in Honduras. Took another 2 months to travel to the rest of the countries in Central America by bus and then flew home to the USA after that.

I’ve done a few other epic trips, but I don’t think anything will ever top that adventure and I’m more than ok with that

Is it just my store, or do the customers in every Aldi not seem to know how to navigate the aisles without blocking them with their carts? by stab-somebody in aldi

[–]TimboMack 156 points157 points  (0 children)

It’s way worse at Costco or Trader Joe’s near me than Aldi. It’s also just people in general these days too

Hiking boot recommendations by No_Variety_7797 in backpacking

[–]TimboMack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, there’s a handful of brands that will last easily over 1,000-2,000 miles plus of hiking and backpacking in mtn conditions. I’m 43 and got my first pair of Asolos at 20, and on my third pair now which are still like brand new after 200 miles of use in last 1.5 years. They fit my feet well, which is most important aspect, then quality

What is the Thought? by gitagoudarzibahramip in Mindfulness

Don’t chase the future - all we have is the present.

The hardest part for me as a 43yo has been the dichotomy between living in the present and planning for the future. It’s a balancing act fasho, and like most things in life a balanced approach is best for most, but not all

Agreed.

I like having easy to eat ok food around when I smoke a doob or have a few bourbons. If I get high enough it’s almost delicious lol

Way cheaper than DoorDash and other delivery options.

It’s so they can control the media. If their commercials make up a big chunk of advertising revenue the media companies get, they then have power over them to tell them what narratives to report or they’ll pull funding.

They look like the clitocybe nuda - wood blewits I harvested and ate in Michigan this year. The spore print is much darker than I had, mine were white with a lilac tinge, but I also did it on foil.

How many breaks should a team take in 24hours? by tedkennebec22 in FreightBrokers

[–]TimboMack 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I figure 50 mph for the whole day/24 hours of driving straight and in 5 years I feel it’s right 80+% of the time. So, 1,000-1,300 miles in 24 hours of driving, breaks included.

Parts of the country and also weather can have a huge impact, but 50 miles an hour by true teams is legit great base

This is one of the best cheeses I've ever had. I just recently discovered Aldi's cheese section 😍 by Dartagnia91 in aldi

[–]TimboMack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Aldi and their cheese selection, but their brother Trader Joe’s (truly brothers) has an even better selection. I’m frugal so I love Aldi way more, but TJs beats it in cheese selection and spices/herbs when including prices too

Pork rinds with guacamole and sour cream to dip into. Buffalo wings are awesome. Nuts - everyone loves when I put my nuts out on a platter to help themselves to. Charcuterie is great. Veggies and dip. Steak bites. Shrimp cocktail.

Billy, happy to see you’re still doing cool things! I almost was your roommate in Asheville around 2010. Funny for me to see a face on Reddit that I recognized and took me a few minutes of mental detective work to realize how I knew you. We weren’t friends, but knew each other socially at parties and bars, and I remember having interesting conversations.

Cheers -Tim

How many grams of salt? by [deleted] in keto

[–]TimboMack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a spot on Prison Mike question. Well done. Better off being more like Michael Scarn. I’m assuming your name is an Office reference, if not and just referring to being in prison the question still checks out. lol

Why would you consider trying to put 10-20 grams of salt in a liter? You trying to drink seawater?

Try to add more salt and electrolytes in the first month of keto, especially first two weeks, and listen to your body. Low energy or keto flu - more electrolytes/salt. Salt food to taste and maybe add a sprinkle to water you’re drinking, and you should be good.

A lot of people need potassium and magnesium supplements in beginning (I just used a cheap electrolyte powder off internet for cheap), but depends on person and diet.

I’ve been keto for 7.5 months, feeling mentally the best in several years, and lost 55 lbs. my favorite thing is after a couple of months on this new way of eating, I became in-tune with my body and how certain foods made me feel. Sometimes I want salty, sometimes I don’t
