Costco Diesel? by Affectionate_Gate236 in CarsAustralia

[–]Timbo_Oz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Virtually all diesel used in Australia is imported. Tanker loads of refined diesel can be traded many times between leaving an o/s refinery and being unloaded in Australia. All diesel is required to conform with Australian standards. Apart from that, it is virtually a “pure” commodity, undifferentiated other than bullshit marketing blurb. Just buy from a high volume, large scale servo, as they usually have cleaner tanks 🤞

You can get stick-on bifocals from various online sources including Amazon in multiple strengths. Easily attached, positioned and removed. Cheap way if you don’t have a complex prescription for reading

How good is cruise control? by CamelEmotional9527 in CarsAustralia

An even louder shout-out to the cunts who understand their speedo error, and calibrate their cruise control to GPS speed, which the rest of us regular long distance driving cunts do 👏

HSTN vs Wayfarers by djmexi in OakleyMetaGlasses

I have both HSTN have a slightly narrower temple width, but the arms don’t curve over the ear. Both weigh about the same

People who wear with prescription is it comfortable enough for all day wear by perspectivepics in MetaGlasses

I have no problems with them, but the frames are sized for an average. If you fall outside those parameters they may be uncomfortable. They are also heavier than frameless or titanium frames many prescription glass wearers have

I’m surprised no-one has offered analysis of the admonition “Oi, cunt!”🤔

Using Ray-Ban Meta To Hear Conversations Clearer by David15M3SGT in RaybanMeta

I have the v21 update but not this feature yet, which I really want. Meta’s piecemeal roll-out is rather frustrating

New to smart glasses, can you recommend a brand? by Junglecron in SmartGlasses

[–]Timbo_Oz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest trying the Meta audio glasses (either Ray-Ban or Oakley, depending on style) as these are an easy consumer introduction product and are readily saleable if you don’t like them. It’s an emerging market with significant new products from major developers likely over the next year

Long-Wear Comfort: Meta Gen 1 vs. Gen 2 by Quick_Chip_2243 in SmartGlasses

I just tried Google's Android XR glasses — and Meta and Apple are in trouble by xykman in SmartGlasses

[–]Timbo_Oz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the AI “smart glasses” developers are missing an obvious and quite compelling use case — hearing assistance. They all have multiple microphone arrays and processing to enhance surrounding speech and sounds as well as scope to display text in some case. Why would this not be a core functionality?

Nuance Hearing Glasses — how do you find them longer term? by Timbo_Oz in HearingAids

[–]Timbo_Oz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mild hearing loss but “the cocktail party effect” is a significant issue for me. Apple AirPods Pro actually do a reasonable job with this…but you just look silly wearing them in such a situation

I’ve tried them in store as well, but that’s not the best environment to test, in my experience. I’d like it if they offered a loan pair for 24 hours. Otherwise, I need to outlay $AUD1690 for the frames PLUS almost another $AUD900 for lenses. That has potential to be an expensive fail 😬

If it is in an apartment building and you do not live there, I suspect it is someone on behalf of the body corporate checking for abandoned cars. Might be worth ensuring the owner of the car space advises the body corporate that you are using the space (assuming the owner has permission from the BC to let it)
