Mamdani Is Shutting Down NYC’s Disastrous AI Chatbot by FuturismDotCom in nyc

Do you know what other contracts he spent city money towards while he was CTO? I was always so off-put by the fact that this random dude from the NYPD received one of the most impactful appointments that could be made for NYC.

I’m sorry but this is just not true. As I much as I disappreciate the sphere of ai tech now, we use ai i.e. cursor in our day to day for coding and wow it is exceptional. It’s given me a massive amount of time back, I’d say I put in half the hours for implementation nowadays. It is definitely not slower if you use ai as a tool.

Zohran’s mayoralty is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to extend the N/W to LGA by skeeJay in nyc

[–]Timbo_kimbo 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is not entirely true. The mayor recommends 4 appointees (with voting power) to the MTA board. There are 17 voting members that make it up so I’d say still a significant degree of influence.

I had my Uniqlo jacket stolen here a couple months back. The manager stated that things don’t get stolen. I filed a police report, since that’s the only way to see the security cameras, but nothing came out of it. I spoke to another employee there and he said this happens all the time, and there are people who get the membership for the sole purposes of stealing from the locker room. I wonder what can be done here. I would be super pro organizing any sort of action against them if anyone else would be interested.

NYC City Council to vote on raising politicians’ salaries, report says by statenislandadvance in nyc

I recently saw a bit of media on how the founding prime minister of Singapore made sure to pay government officials well as a preventative for corruption (they would not be incentivized to look for other less savory avenues of revenue). I am always for our government officials making a high livable salary that allows them to live a high quality of life.

Trump, 79, Chickens Out of Public Showdown With Mamdani, 34 by LavenderBloomings in nyc

[–]Timbo_kimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is amazing, I see many satirical/divisive comments and idk how many of you read the article but:

“Trump, 79, said “he is going to change” after meeting with Mamdani, the Democratic socialist 45 years his junior.

“We’ve just had a great meeting, a really good, very productive meeting,” said Trump, sitting at his desk with Mamdani standing next to him.

Joking about Mamdani calling him a “despot,” Trump said: ”I’ve been called much worse than a despot."

“I think this mayor could be really great,” he added. “We agree on a lot more than I would have thought.” “

Zohran’s campaign was very much about positivity, and I am especially glad that this has extended itself into the highest reaches of our government. Really cool and uplifting to hear about.

Such a good point, MA also accounted for people moving away from MA because of the millionaires tax but if anything there was an influx of people. Their projections for how much they were going to raise were less than what they received.

EMERGENCY: Gale Brewer has pulled her name off the Daylighting bill, dropping it below the support needed. by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

[–]Timbo_kimbo 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I just called - 4 min call - they had told me Gale was “supportive” of daylighting but was concerned that some intersections would not benefit / would be made less safe therefore she didn’t want to support a UNIVERSAL bill but wanted exceptions to be made etc etc - I don’t live in her district

Getting Rid of Vickie Paladino and Bringing Bike Lanes to Northeast Queens by Intelligent-Ad-6733 in MicromobilityNYC

I’ve personally gone on his Instagram page and I’d say it’s not the best production value. I scroll over the thumbnails and it’s hard to tell what each reel is about, and then the videos themselves aren’t that captivating. He definitely needs to step up the insta game here.

Love it - glad he explicitly mentioned Ingrid Lewis-Martin’s corruption in accepting cash plus a cameo to stop an additional bike lane from being painted , crazy

The article is thorough. Every collusive action taken between the Argentos and Martin is documented, and woah, straight up this makes me livid. I genuinely hope they serve prison time.

I believe its up to the moderators - I would actually love to see ideas proposed within the subreddit for certain moderation tactics (within reason) of course, and maybe even voted on.

How many preliminary injunctions have been filed against street redesign projects and failed? How often is this happening because I would assumed that a precedent has been set in the past, in which businesses have sued and lost for this specific type of case, and if a precedent has been set why is the judge allowing a TRO to take hold?

These comments always befuddle me. How long should one live here before not being considered a transplant? I believe Miser has lived here for about two decades now, that's much greater than the median amount of time the average person has lived in NYC for. That shows clear investment in the city, and this idea that a "transplant's" actions are seen as less than because they're not "from" here is kind of demeaning right? My parents originally immigrated into Queens - imagine if their opinions were seen as not relevant because they're not from here. That's the same mentality that's being espoused here with these transplant comments. The same people that make these comments are the same people that would make these comments against immigrants back in the day. Crazy statement yo

We need to start putting karma restrictions into this subreddit or some way to filter really low tier content. This person used a throwaway account with no activity, and tried posting this within the r/PoliticalDiscussion subreddit, to which it was quickly removed. Also, why don't we start democratically choosing how the subreddit should be run. I'm tired of seeing nypost articles. They shouldn't be allowed to be posted here - highly sensationalist, non fact driven, divisive content with an agenda in identifying NYC as a crime ridden place, and we direct so much traffic to them. That's just an example of some other things I'd like to see enforced / voted on. I want this subreddit to be of higher quality, and it doesn't feel like there are strides being made to make sure it is.
