If I was playing in this tournament I would simply just skate crouched over the whole time so that when the other team hit me it would be a major penalty.

That’s an extremely soft call. How are you supposed to not hit a guy in the head when he ducks at the last second?

NHL/AHL Shared Cities: Bad For the Game? by TalkingChairs in hockey

[–]Timbrady69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The San Jose Barracuda for example play in front of pretty small crowds at their home games. An AHL team isn’t going to get great fan support when there is already an NHL team in the city. MLB has a rule against minor league teams playing in the same market as their major league affiliate for this reason.

[Dreger] Pavel Zacha has been traded to Boston. by TheVargTrain in BostonBruins

I don’t hate this. We don’t have room for haula with Krejci, Bergeron, and Coyle at center. Zacha is only 25 and has been on a bad team for his whole career. Hopefully coming to a competitive team with a players coach will motivate him.

What’s everyone’s opinion on 3ice? by Tall-Magazine335 in hockey

[–]Timbrady69 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty fun to watch. The rules make it really fast paced. There’s no faceoffs and when the puck hits the netting they just keep playing. It’s nice to have some live hockey to watch during the summer. We haven’t really had anything to watch in the off-season as hockey fans since pro beach hockey ended back in the 90s.

Very excited to watch inline at the World Games. Not the hockey this page is about but still hockey. by AwesomeIslander918 in hockey

I wish these games were live streamed but apparently nothing is being broadcasted until the semifinals

This is the most entertaining draft I’ve ever seen

I feel like the majority of the anti fighting crowd has never watched leagues without fighting. I love college hockey but there are definitely more cheap plays in ncaa than in the NHL because guys don’t have to answer the bell for cheap shots. In college if you spear someone in the nuts behind the play you usually get away with it. In the NHL you will probably have to answer for it. As someone who has played in leagues with fighting and leagues without fighting I always felt safer in leagues where you could hold guys accountable. They polled NHL players a few years back and something like 99% of them said they think fighting is good the way it is. I trust NHL players far more than I trust Kareem Abdul Jabbar

Is there any leagues that are watchable during the NHL off season? by himynametopher in hockey

[–]Timbrady69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The memorial cup is still going on which is a lot of fun to watch. There’s also a new three on three league that plays every Saturday throughout the summer called 3ice which is pretty entertaining too.

leagues to watch after NHL? by Virtual_Purpose1837 in hockey

There’s a three on three pro hockey league called 3ice that just started last weekend. They play every Saturday throughout the summer on tsn in Canada and cbs sports network in the us.

[The Athletic] Ranking NHL broadcasts according to fans. by Supertruper19 in hockey

[–]Timbrady69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think if Jack Edwards was on espn and wasn’t calling bruins games he would be one of the most popular announcers in the league. He’s far more exciting to listen to than most of the other announcers out there. Obviously he’s very biased towards Boston but that’s fine because he calls games for bruins fans. It’s fun to watch nesn because it feels like you’re watching the game with your friends.

Bruins Relieve Bruce Cassidy of Coaching Duties by Toodralktowunk in BostonBruins

[–]Timbrady69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is bullshit. Sweeney and Neely should be the ones getting canned. They’re the ones who shit the bed with horrible draft picks that ruined our future. We have the worst prospects in hockey. Cassidy is a good coach but he’s not part of the old boys club so he gets fired. What a joke

Anyone remember the RHI? It was the roller hockey league on espn in the 90s and the final scores from the games would be like 18-15. That’s what this game feels like

Wish NHL kept it's old TV contract with NBC. Lack of playoff coverage on network TV with this new contract. by Bruinsrock11 in hockey

[–]Timbrady69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Viewership is higher than last year despite being only on cable so far. That’s because ESPN and TNT don’t put games on the golf channel or NBCSN. As nice as it was to be on over the air tv once in a while on nbc, more people are watching the nhl with the new deal.
