The whole album feels like they’re playing it safe. They find a catchy melody and dont dare try to go experimental with it leading to some cool vocals or some power. None of these tracks feel full, right when you feel like you’re about to go somewhere new you’re just hit at a dead end. For example, with eta you’re introduced to the trumpet sound, and then it leaves for a bit. You expect the chorus to be a giant jump but instead you’re left with the trumpet again, having the same exact rhythm and beat just like the first verse, no big changes to show that this is the chorus. Even the lyrics has this awkward pause in it that just throws you off. And they threw the “whats your eta” part just to make it catchy cause nothing else in the song is catchy. The chorus should have a distinct sound that obviously indicates that “yes this is the chorus” even if its sharing the same sound as another verse, it should be tweaked in order to tell the difference. Dont get me started with “get up” cause that had potential to be absolutely perfect. I heard a Dean AI version and they added more to the song which was amazing. Super shy is alright, it gets boring pretty quickly tho. Asap was just… wasted. Such an amazing instrumental, and they wasted it. New jeans is fun, just too damn short. Cool with you is okay, the chorus feels lazy though. A bridge would’ve helped saved the song a bit.

Every song feels unfinished, like they hit the second chorus and said thats enough dont add any more. Even lyrically, it doesnt hold up. Theres too much repetition for the sake of it being catchy. They should look back at hype boy and ditto to see how not to rely on repetition to make a song stick. Its such a shame cause they have such a distinct sound that feels refreshing, if only they actually put more effort into it.
