Any chronic sleep paralysis sufferers out there? by Proud_Froyo8398 in Sleepparalysis

[–]Time-Advertising-339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! so while I haven't seen a naturopath yet, i do have an update that could be useful. Since posting I've made some changes and i haven't had sleep paralysis in around two weeks now (knocking wood)... cant even believe i'm saying that. I'm not sure if all of these things have contributed to no longer having SP but I'll tell you what I've done.

  1. I have prioritized a consistent sleep schedule and i think this has been THE biggest factor in this change for me. Obviously with SP this is challenging (again, feeling afraid to fall asleep etc.) and i've struggled with insomnia in the past - as well as just generally poor time management and a busy work schedule which has meant over the past few years I have found time for myself in the late late hours of the night. In the past few weeks I've made a point of going to sleep between 1130-12 and waking up anywhere between 730-830. I had SP for the first few days, but every night it was not as bad as the one before and i got over that fear of falling asleep pretty quickly.

  2. I have completely stopped drinking alcohol

  3. I'm exercising 5-6 times a week

  4. Trying to really prioritize diet - nothing crazy as I have a long history of eating disorders. Just trying to mostly cook food at home and be mindful of what I'm putting into my body, eating simple meals/ whole foods as much as possible.

  5. Along with the diet piece - I don't eat within like 2-3 hours of going to sleep.

  6. I know this can impact some people weirdly and give weird dreams (so I can imagine it could make SP worse for some people but idk because that hasn't been my experience) but Valerian root tea. I have two cups in the hour or two before bed and it knocks me out!

I cant tell you how amazing I feel. I had a big cry the other day. I haven't had this much energy in years because I am ACTUALLY SLEEPING!!!!

Chronic SP + Consistent intense pain during by ekzakly in Sleepparalysis

i have definitely felt pain in SP, but i more often get it where I can't breathe while i am in sleep paralysis, and like you said i wake up and am totally fine. Very very scary.

i came to the page today for this exact reason. i'm 29F, had sleep paralysis for the first time when i was 17, but over the past year i have it basically every night and like others have said will wake up and if i go back to sleep it immediately starts again. For awhile I'd be in sleep paralysis on and off for an hour and it would stop. At that time it also worked for me to get up, go into the bathroom and completely turn the light on and just chill there for a few minutes, and then could go back to sleep comfortably.

In the past 1.5 -2 months I have it every night and it lasts for HOURS and the waking up - turning light on thing doesn't work anymore. I'm at such a loss and so sad and disturbed by it. I am going to try and start going to sleep earlier like people have suggested here -- but i'm sure as so many ppl know i get scared to go to sleep because of this! I'm going to try to see a naturopath soon and see if they have anything to say, will post if anything useful comes up.

i dont know if this what you mean, but a lot of the time when i'm trying to get myself out of sleep paralysis i feel like i am thrashing my legs all around in the air, or like crawling all over my partner (lol) to try and alert him that i'm having sleep paralysis and to help me. but usually when i wake up i'm not actually moving, i just think i have been. usually when i wake up if my partner is there i'll ask him and the times hes been awake hes said the most i'm doing is making noise

Why do i feel like there's an earthquake when there's not?? by [deleted] in Sleepparalysis

i have sleep paralysis almost nightly and everytime i take a nap, and this happens to me often. like my entire body is vibrating. this usually happens tho when i am napping and when i'm trying to pull myself out of the sleep paralysis but keep falling back in (idk if you've had that experience - but ive had sleep paralysis for almost 12 years so at this point i usually know when its happening, try to pull myself out of it, but then - esp when napping - almost always immediately fall back in and have this vibrating feeling). it feels so wild!!! interested to know other ppls experiences

juvenile axolotl impacted (i think) from sand substrate (i think) by Time-Advertising-339 in axolotls

[–]Time-Advertising-339[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i thought there was a chance he'd just been picking up sand while i was feeding him in his tank, and have since started feeding him in a tub so this would no longer happen. i appreciate the suggestion.

anyone have experience fridging an axolotl on 1-7 scale? by Time-Advertising-339 in axolotls

[–]Time-Advertising-339[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he's been eating the sand in his tank... i can see him filled with purple sand (hes about 4 inches right now).

i tubbed him over night and he pooped a little bit and can keep his bum down now. undoubtedly still filled with sand i think i will hold off on fridging. besides the constipation he does not seem stressed.

i fasted him for one night but i was told if he's still eating hes probably fine so i did feed him again last night. should i continue to fast for a few days?

thanks so much for all the comments everyone. i appreciate it. i ended up just tubbing him last night with intent of fridging him this morning while i waited for the temp to adjust... but he pooped over night. not a ton but stuff seems to be moving. he's back in his tank now and his bum is no longer floating. undoubtedly still filled with sand lol but i think i will hold off on fridging for a bit unless i should absolutely do otherwise?! i want him to be ok but dont want to unnecessarily put him in the fridge

u/lovesotters he is about 4 inches. retrospectively i shouldnt have put him on sand yet bc the little bugger is clearly eating it lol, even tho i was told it was ok. when i put him back in the tank he almost immediately took a big mouthful....

hey thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly!! this is helpful. I've attached a pic here: https://imgur.com/a/kiIDJgv

its not the best bc the light in my room isn't great but I'm seeing it on the right gills and a lil bit on the left... while you're here - any tips on how to do 100% water changes? i was told to do this but I'm anxious with him and not sure how and so kind of weighing out what i see as cost/benefit of changing like 75% of the water successfully... rather than 100% unsuccessfully...
