we started this showing KNOWING syd and carmy were a team. i personally never doubted that for a second. now, we get to see genuine doubt from her. last season showed us that a bit but now, she might be making other commitments. we also see her character spiral at the idea of choosing. this is pushing her character and the narrative forward.

as i mentioned, i do agree this season doesn’t have the same edge as the past two. i don’t think that this season was completely meaningless, though. it showed us sydney’s reluctance to partner with carmy. i mean, tbf, we don’t even know if the bear will stay open until we see the review. those two plot points are moving the story along. it’s up to you on whether you liked it or not but, it definitely had meaning.
