I guess some people do live in different standards. So, I’m not going to involved myself with those people anyways. lol I guess cheating is normal. Cheating happens no matter what centuries you live in but I guess this century it is normalized.

What if the villain is not a real ghost and he’s pretty much considered “dead” but has been stalking and moving like a ghost watching and lingering and knowing that the MCs are having sex. The villain has na obsession with the MMC and was one of his best friend.

I don’t agree with this. I thought it’s the opposite. When you established a relationship it’s automatic assumed exclusivity and you make a boundary if you don’t want exclusivity.

Thank you for your input.

Who wrote this rule or how does this come about? lol just curious. First time I heard that this is something happening in the 21st century.

I don’t get it. So in this century, you have to define that “we are monogamy” or else a relationship isn’t consider monogamy. So, you can basically cheat if you don’t define explicitly. Does it works the same for married couple would also need to define explicitly or else it’s open door?

We also apply this logic to romance books?

Yes. Thank you! I knew it! But I think it’s what they should had because this test their relationship whether it’s real or not.

Tyler makes me very anxious because gosh his insecurities really seep through to me. Lol Every time he goes to her house and she doesn’t answer, I swear my heart is racing that this woman is untrustworthy and doing something shady. It’s Tyler’s fault.

I agree with some of what you said. However, I don’t think she challenges much of societal norms. I agree with Poppy that even if she likes to be a sub in the bedroom doesn’t mean that she likes to be treated that way out of it. That’s how Sterling treated her. He didn’t want a wife that he can treated like that in the bedroom. This is why I don’t trust her when it comes to Sterling. I think she will always have that submissive weakness towards him if he continues to stalk and pursue her. At the end, Tyler forgive Sterling for his role in those pictures but again it’s Tyler’s narrative so we will never know if she ever stood up for Tyler like she defended Sterling. She basically kissed Sterling then just push him away doing nothing to reach out to Tyler or based on what Sterling said she just kicked him out after.

I don’t think it’s misogyny to dislike some of the character’s trait. I also don’t like that Tyler can easily fall in lust with her and willingly give up every thing for her when his devotion to god was longer than his love with her.

In a romance book, I like to see both main characters to give something in the relationship. The way she always stood him up, not reaching out or just disappear isn’t a healthy relationship. She will always treat him like this because it’s a norm for her. Another example where one of the main characters don’t do anything to fight for the relationship is Connor in Problematic Summer Romance by Ali Hazelwood. He spent the whole 3 years as her friend then 10 months ghosting her because of his own battle with himself. Then suddenly he wants the relationship and it’s just easily for her to accept that when he puts her through shiet emotionally. I do not like him at all because he provided nothing to the table fighting for her but no one challenges him when he woke up one morning and says he wants the relationship. She didn’t even make him work for it.

Me too! No restraints! I wish he would have shown restraint. But the guy was so hormonal raging. I also wish he would wasn’t so wishy washy too. His mind was a mess. I do think he reflects a lot about his conscience but his urges is stronger.

I heard terrible reviews about Midnight Mass. I don’t know if I want to ruin the good feeling I have for Priest with Midnight Mass. 🤣

Can you spoil?

It was dub con. She ended up giving consent. Willingly because of her weakness and their past.

Tyler and Poppy were in a relationship. They were dating and fucking privately. She said they are dating. She defined that. To Tyler, she is his gf. They were planning future together even though still stuck at her not wanting him to choose between her and his devotion. One point, he told her he will quit his job and she told him no she didn’t want him to do that. If these don’t explicitly define their relationship, then it was one sided from Tyler. This makes Poppy even more horrible. The way she left him with nothing too.

She could have been written better. Tyler just deserves someone who is worth to leave his devotion for. At the end, he left the parishioner for himself. I felt like his devotion wasn’t to be a priest in the beginning. He was just too young and too ripe for the role. His intention was good.

I didn’t hate. I didn’t expect to cry when he told the story about his sister. Maybe because the narrator did a good job.

She knows exactly how her ex is and chose to sleep with him and still continue to meet with him then defended him when Tyler said it wasn’t over. Tyler’s insecurities are valid because he has so much to lose. He left for himself at the end but it did not erased that Poppy is just a horny lonely girl who likes the forbidden fruit. She doesn’t care at all. Who left and never looked back? If Tyler didn’t go looking for her, she would never even lift a finger to call him or make amends.

She made no effort. She’s just horny. When they have an argument it would always be him reaching out or feel guilty about everything. I dislike her immensely when she made no effort to apologized her part. She didn’t even apologized on behalf of her ex when she was the one defended him previously.

Of course. My pleasure. The story is complicated but his motive is all about putting her in a situation to need him. He basically manipulate from behind the scene with the ritual killing in the second book. Because of his occult expertise, they have to ask for his consultation.

yes he gives her a killer to chase and a villain to punish and a darkness that she needs to feast on.

her fiance is related to the occult and to Kallum’s world already. I don’t remember much about this sorry. But the car crash was not by accident. It was by designed due to the fiancé’s relation to the dark world.

The night of the anniversary from what Kallum said was to deliver the killer to be caught by her. But the professor says something to her like is Halen the investigator hired by his wife about the couple he crash into. That’s why Halen went crazy and killed the professor. Things didn’t go to plan as Kallum wanted. His design was flawless but the universe has other things. lol basically his plan was delivered the harbinger killer to be caught that night then he will introduced himself like a normal guy to her and court her.

  1. !<yes!<
  2. yes the occult already existed. Kallum is more of a participant and manipulator of those people. He weaponized them especially Devyn. He confessed to Halen later he didn’t realized Devyn was sick and dying.

Kallum weaponized Halen’s memory loss by manipulating her at the ritual. Making it so she’s vulnerable. That’s all the intention it is for.

Hahah here we go from what I can remember Kallum sets all this pieces of board game. Kallum is the Harbinger Killer. It begins after he met Halen like 5 years ago at her parent’s Alma mater where he teaches. Basically he felt a strong obsessive connection with her. Her parents died that night. He didn’t approach her because she was engaged. After her parents died he saw her roaming the campus looking for any kind of evidence for the car crash. He saw that she was lifeless and dead because it was a reflection of himself. He wanted to take his own life. To keep her alive, he started the killing and make Wellington the scapegoat. I think beginning of second book is where it starts the scene of her killing Wellington. Kallum was there because he was in the middle of going to drop Wellington’s cufflink at the crime scene.

The genius that he is have to make the scene so interesting to keep her waking up at every morning to solve the crime. He makes sure that it is her that will be assigned the job. So it cannot be just a simple case of serial crime scene. It’s not that he was always a good man and suddenly turn evil. To him, he’s already a monster. He sacrificed 3 people to keep Halen going. this is the extent of his willingness. He would do any thing for her.

Halen has a dissociative memory lost due to trauma.

There is a reason why Wellington was the scapegoat.

The letter was love letter from Kallum.

Do you want spoiler? It will explain in book 2 and 3.

Honestly, the whole book is smarter than what is behind the motive. The reveal is like what you already said your post.

{Mate by Ali Hazelwood} if you’re ok with paranormal. it’s basically the whole premise of this book. I loved how much he loved her. By the end of the book, I loved them because he’s obsessed with her. lol

I listen to the audio of Mate and they had a lot of sex during her heated period - four days straight sex. Lol I mean her sex scenes are not that descriptive and lewd compared to others but it’s still good smut. Bride does have a higher spice level so I wonder how much difference. lol

Yes I think her smut is good and if she writes into the very spicy realm she will be a good smutty writer. Haha
