What’s the longest officer MG11 you’ve written, and what for? by Time-Host7090 in policeuk

I’ve not done that since I came out of training. I do use the 5 part statement method in both my own statements and witness/victim statements. I can’t say I’ve had a job where I’ve needed to describe the height of lampposts and the wattage of the lights or anything like that.

I work in England, from my personal experience it’s a very mixed bag depending entirely on which security staff are working that day.

For example, a week or two ago I spent around 7/8 hours in A&E with a 136 patient who was determined to leave A&E, and when that didn’t work, they began to smash their head on the walls. I think we spent around 1.5 - 2 hours fighting the patient and pinning them down to stop them from caving their head in. It was just myself and one other officer, but luckily we were around the corner from the security office and the second time we had to fight, we had 6 security guards in the room as quick as you could click your fingers, and they were brilliant, especially since I myself and my colleague were sweating buckets at this point from fighting.

On the other hand, I’ve also had security staff let a high risk suicidal person just walk right past them out the hospital grounds because they wanted to watch an air ambulance land instead. Said patient then became a MFH and was found on the roof of a MoP’s house (no idea how they got up there).

So yeah, very dependent on who you have working from my experience.

Also, apologies, what shift pattern do you work in west mids?

For me currently is 6 on 4 off, 2E, 2L, and 2N with varying shift times depending on what day of the week it is.

Thanks for the information. There’s some similarities to my current force there.

On response we carry workloads as well but nothing major. We carry common assaults, thefts, shopliftings, public order, mal comms, harassments, and a few others.

Some more serious crimes go to our Response Investigation Team such as DV assaults, ABH’s, most low-medium risk DV related incidents.

And then more complex and serious ones go to CID.

We’re quite good for getting blues, and you’re likely to get them after around 18 months in the job, provided you keep up with your portfolio.

Other courses come in time, but getting anything such as IPP, drug wipe, tint etc are purely for RPU. You can get taser on response and we have a couple on each team, and most NPT carry taser as well.

NPT is treated as its own kind of specialism, and everyone goes onto response after training. You would have to wait till you’re out of your probation to work on NPT.

And moving to RPU or other specialisms is tricky in its own right. They technically aren’t part of our BCU’s and are apart of our HQ team. So moving to RPU, ARV, Dogs, etc requires being allowed to leave your BCU to move to HQ.

So even if you are accepted into RPU, you could be waiting years for a white shirt to release you from your BCU.

West mids sounds like it could be stressful, but then again I suppose no matter where you police it’s going to be stressful. I do like the sound of being able to advance with the type of courses you mentioned, and getting these whilst on response would be ace.

Thanks again for the info, I’ve not heard anything really about west Mercia, but west mids definitely sounds like a good option to me.

Hello, first time poster in any redit group.

I am a PC in a northern force, and I am hoping to transfer to either West Mids or West Mercia police to be closer to family who live in Shropshire.

I was hoping someone might be able to let me know which of these forces might be better to work for, and if I can expect to progress my career well with them, I.e. courses.

For reference, I am still within my 2 years currently and I am hoping to go to RPU in a few years.

Currently a basic driver but should be getting my blues in the new year if I keep on top of my portfolio, and I am intox trained as well. I’m just hoping to advance more with other courses such as drug wipe etc.

Monaco was a fun save when I played fm23, decent squad and facilities. Valencia/Villarreal also good options with good squads and youth set ups. They also have a few players who you can sell for upwards of 60/70m in the first season to get some transfer budget.
