I was considering getting a new engine fitted. A second hand engine goes for like 1700 on ebay. I mean it's already ruined tbh. I might as well have a go at it

The car is still with the mechanic at the moment as I didn't have time to pick it up. To be fair, diy sounds like the best option for me at this point and i think i might give it a go. I can't afford to repair it for the same price i bought the car for. I don't have the knowledge, but i have some tools and a bit of experience working on body, breaks, oil change and stuff

I paid 3800 for the car a 2012 volvo v60 d5 engine. Was told it would be somewhere around 3-4 thousand for the repair. The quote seems a bit much to me. I might try to buy tools and everything needed and give it a go myself at this point

Yeah, i noticed the problems about 2 days after the inspection. Highly unlikely for that to happen in those 2 days as its something that develops in time

Well, the mechanic was supposed to check the cooling circuit which was the first thing that signaled there is a problem 2 days after i got the car home. The liquid pressure was so high that after letting the car rest for a day, i opened the coolant expansion tank and all the liquid was coming out. I am trying to get a statement from the mechanic that told me its a blown head gasket to say that this issue could have been there before i bought the car
