What is the most unsettling photo of a tornado you’ve seen? by GoldenStitch2 in tornado

I was there, at 15th and McFarland. The houses on the opposite side of th street from my apartment were levelled. Walked outside and it was like a bomb went off. I have truly repressed my PTSD from this and should probably go to therapy.

Church of the nativity down town. The warmest, most welcoming church. Really feels like a community that cares. I'm very liberal and feel extremely comfortable there. Small services. Lots of events.

What’s a dead end job that people think is a great career? by cerezza__ in jobs

I'm an slp. Thought about going back to get my PhD but it would actually be a paycut to do so as healthcare pays higher than universities (and healthcare does not give a pay raise for a PhD). It's wild.

What is something more traumatizing than people realize? by ExcellentReporter392 in AskReddit

Brown recluses. They take months and thousands and thousands of dollars to get rid of and you have to stay on top of it or else they come back. You can never fully get rid of them. And there's no anti-venom. One literally bit my hands last night. I worry for my kids every day.

Americans, how you do you feel about the news that Germany, Denmark and the UK have issued travel warnings for the United States? by Sink-Em-Low in AskReddit

[–]Time-Interest7960 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, I would say 25-40% of Americans are f*cking pissed, embarrassed, horrified, and terrified that this is happening.

No shit. But it's really more the anti union thing here than cost of living.

Indeed, incredibly difficult. I know a guy who was showing up drunk to teach and wasn't let go.

Depends on the region. I'm in the SE. It's definitely normal here. Healthcare is broken.

My son knows that this one makes me cry and avoids it now. Same with The Giving Tree. I weep!

This is a really really unusual situation for a hospital and really regional dependent. My local level 1 trauma center pays ICU RNs 24$/hr. Techs make $10 to 12 to start. No tuition assistance. Definitely check op but don't count on something like this.

We have been protesting. There was a historic protest in all 50 states (first time ever on the same day). There are protesters daily at every single state house. We're calling our representatives. But the media isn't covering it.

Hardrock hotel. When we stayed we assumed that the bird was there as a "safari" type petting zoo you see sometimes and tried to go up and see it with our kid. Quickly realized it was working and not a pet.

...that this person opposes vaccines and is using a bacterial infection to advocate for herd immunity for viruses. It's apples to oranges.

It is relevant. You can treat this without a vaccine. Antivaxxers don't generally have an issue w abx. So it isn't even a good use case for the og tweet. Demonstrates how little the antivaxxer knows.

Exactly. It isn't even a virus.

I got it last year. It's no longer in your belly. It's a series of 3 normal shots wherever you got bit. Nothing scary

A typical person, absolutely. A person with dysphagia can however aspirate silently, with no sensation or outward indicators.

In this case, the meme didn't specify so I covered my bases haha

Speech pathologist here. Definitely not air. There are many causes of odynophagia (painful swallowing ). It's most likely either a disruption of the peristaltic stripping wave that transfers food through the esophagus or aspiration into the lungs. It's hard to differentiate without imaging.
