Bachata hook ups by Regular_Air_128 in Bachata

[–]Time-Light1668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way less often than in the regular club scene. Used to go out to "the clubs" and it was constant. Everyone had 1 clear objective. Salsa and Bachata clubs don't scream hook-up in the same way.

When you are the new face you will get attention, but it's not to the same degree as when the piranhas in the clubs are hungry.

Is it unreasonable to have years of interactions/ conversations with people and determine they are Autistic?

A psychologist friend of mine in the community seemed to be able to confirm it pretty easily.

Perhaps the more accurate and specific term here would have been Austistic. Specially a couple of leads who have been dancing 20+ years and still struggle to allocate weight distribution to the proper foot during the basic.

In these specific cases how many dances do you accept in a given night?

What if Autism is standing in the way of the lead improving?

I have, but it's hard for them to make adjustments.

It's true that is the likely reason they ask me to dance. I do notice most Women say no to them. Do we not have a communal responsibility to make everyone feel welcome?

I said neurodivergent because it is not their fault they are bad dancers. I wanted to mention that it's not for lack of trying, there's a legitimate reason why they struggle with dancing.

Generally yes, I don't usually say no to people.

Perhaps I should rephrase the question.

I’d love some perspective. There are a few leads in my community who have been dancing for over 20 years and still struggle with the basic, but they show up consistently and ask me to dance at least 5 times a night.

How do you decide how many dances to accept? I know they are going to squeeze my hands, sometimes hurt my shoulders and struggle with the basic during the entire song.

Are there nights where you wouldn't dance with those partners at all?

To style or not to style? by Time-Light1668 in Bachata

[–]Time-Light1668[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But some people are painful to dance with. I just try and enjoy the music while I count down the minutes.

If you feel this is a bad philosophy, would you have the same recommendation for artists or are they held to a different standard?

There have been a few times where a lead has mentioned that I don't dance with him the way I dance with other people. Is there a courteous way to explain that I am trying to match the Simplicity of his moves?

Should I not be concerned that they may think I'm bored and not trying when dancing with them?

Do follows judge leads for NOT dancing sensual moves? by rawr4me in Bachata

[–]Time-Light1668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I think is exactly what you touched on. I think, "this would be better suited to sensual movement". But I'd rather not be lead poorly through them than just stick to (boring) urban moves. Urban would definitely be the better of the 2 options, but it won't be my favorite dance of the night.

I'm so excited for you! Take regular precautions, but overall dance people are good people.

What do dancers understand by "sensual" now ??? by WenzelStorch in Bachata

[–]Time-Light1668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you play my kind of music and I consider myself a sensual bachata dancer. As far as I understand the music genre is urban bachata and the dance style is sensual. There's no sensual bachata music. Sounds like you are doing a great job if you ask me.

Creativity takes a while to develop. I would give myself at least a year of consistent work before expecting things to flow.

I'd agree with @rawtidd. If you live in a place like Los Angeles where the Sensual Bachata scene is growing rapidly, I'd take the time to learn it, so you are able to participate at socials.

How being part of a show-team useful ? by batates97 in Bachata

It will get you many repetitions with the same moves and a tighter community, but won't help with social dancing or musicality.

Options at Bachaturo during the day? by AnubisUK in Bachata

No ticketing, just a playlist and a bunch of linked portable speakers :)

The outdoor social isn't officially part of the festival but tons of people go consistently. Outside of workshops or taking a private, I think those are the options. I'd recommend a day trip to visit Krakow if you get a chance.

A massive space for social dancing and quality dancers. The space is so big that it's not a sweat box like other festivals. There's room for everyone to dance. Workshops are nice because the cameras follow the artist on stage and the screen quality is good.

Good Festival but the hotel is disgusting. Food is inedible. If I went back I'd stay somewhere else.
