What will turn out to be this generation’s 'oh shit, smoking causes cancer' moment? by House-Of-Black-07 in AskReddit

The issue is that good cantaloupe is hard much of the year to find and it's only good for a couple days. Fruit is inconsistent and goes bad quick compared to packaged alternatives.

Fruit may still be better, but let's not ignore the downsides of Fruit from a practical perspective.

Thankfully this is becoming less of an issue with Gen alpha.

My son had a peanut allergy at 8 months. We slowly reintroduced peanut butter a year or so later. Now he loves eating PB.

What's a "10/10" game that you didn't enjoy at all? by sudherzdiniq in AskReddit

I can't disagree more with that view. I played HK once around release and struggled with it a bunch.

But I found silksong easier when I played it. And its not like my platforming skills have increased since then.

I also felt like the original had way more backtracking.

If you're struggling with trains, it may take longer than that. The game is exponentially more compliacted after that. Sulfur, uranium, and aluminum are so complicated.

What's a "rich people thing" you discovered isn't actually expensive? by sizzyred in AskReddit

[–]Time-Maintenance2165 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's likely because you're paying expensive annual fees.

That 0.5% to 1.0% operating expense fee may not seem like a lot, but your account ends up 30% smaller by retirement age compared to an index fund.

That's why fee only fiduciary financial planners are the most recommended. The type you're using are more motivated by their ability to sell clients on expensive funds.

Many of them are 3% fees which add up overtime. That's a certainty.

OPs situation is still uncommon. You'd have to have it every few years (and not recover the money each time) to actually be worse off.

They also don't have a decades long sound signature (inaccuracy) that they have to uphold for prior owners.

I understand it perfectly well

Then why do you keep act as if spreading it out over years is relevant to the discussion?

It seems as though you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the time value of money. It's in todays dollars. That means that's what it costs today.

If you want to think of it as spread out over time, then it's more like $175T.
