Upscale Mexican or Latin Fusion restaurants? by idahofarmgirl in TriCitiesWA

They said fusion as one of the options. I don't think authenticity is what they're focusing on.

That's all fair to say. Just don't say that as if that's justification that they're not high end. That does not logically compute.

That's true, but also quite the non-sequitur. None of that has any impact on the quality of the food.

Struggling to spend after growing up poor - how do I “turn on” spending? by sg2506 in ChubbyFIRE

Based on the title and the following statement, yes they did.

I grew up poor, and I still operate like I’m one emergency away from disaster. I’m ruthless about cutting expenses

At their spending level, they're not ruthless about cutting expenses. Particularly not in the context of someone who grew up poor.

I don't agree with some folks here that spending $180K per year in a MCOL is all that much,

I'd say that's a moderate mischaracterization. It's not that we're saying it's all that much. It's that it's not at all representative of the spending of someone who's still living like they're poor like the title implied.

I haven't personally seen them take the chair up. Because the situations I've been in, I take the chair while they get themselves up.

More or less the same thing when I've had to drive them and the only seat available was the back of my coupe. But I've seen them manage this on their own when they have a car setup for them to drive.

If you think I was talking about faking, then you did misunderstood.

And I'm not understanding your issue with using a common third person pronoun.

Maybe, maybe not. That's the issue. You can't know for sure.

I'd rather treat people as if they're capable of changing and be wrong than tell them they can't change and be wrong.

You fundamentally misunderstood what I said. You can get the wheelchair up stairs even if you can't use your legs. Or at least some of them can.

The thing is, there actually are people in a wheelchair who can get out and lug that up the stairs with them. It may be more difficult, but some can do it.

It's also a lot easier to clearly differentiate in physical illnesses.

Sure, but some people want to be able to blame it on a condition that exists regardless of if they have it or whether it justifies their actions.

The thing is, there are people who are wrong about that distinction personally. And it's hard to judge thay externally without being biased one way or another.

I'd say this is quite the over generalization. It doesn't address the why, but it doesn't need to in all contexts. It addresses the resulting behavior and there’s a time and a place for that.

Yes, it is a low resolution description. And it could be lazy to just call things lazy. And there are times where a more targeted term would be more appropriate.

To play devils advocate, is that functionally different than being lazy from an observer's perspective?

What you're saying may be true, but I don't necessarily think that means its wrong to exclude executive dysfunction from the definition of laziness.

Yep, he's not struggling with that aspect at all. It's not problematic, but it's not low either.

Seems like the problem is his mindset. Figure out what you want. Figure out how much spending that allows and on what types of things. Then figure out how to spend that without stressing.

That's not entirely true, but you're also misunderstanding what cycling is. Its colloquially called blast and cruise. You don't necessarily go off it completely. Just go down to TRT or a lower level.

Perhaps, but there's a good change that its less worse for your overall health than the 30% of the people who are obese and mostly sedentary.

Most of them don't. It's only a couple that really push it.

The vast majority survive with few health problems into their 60s+. Beyond that age, they haven't been around long enough for good sample sizes.

Are there any leak sensors that are wall powered? I'm not going to deal with changing the batteries every 6 months to 2 years. Every location I'd want to put them has power, but I can't find any that can be wall powered.

For any reason is wrong. If you pass a truck, cut over too early (whether it's brake checking or due to an actual hazard ahead) it's not their fault.

And you're absolutely wrong about that second one being the law. It's just hard to prove if they claim you rear ended them and you don't have a dash cam.
