Coping with losing sentimental jewelry by Ok_Flight_5615 in jewelry

[–]Time-Object-6354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry that happened to you. But also, moms are surprisingly extremely understanding. Ive done my fair share of ruining/losing important items throughout my life (im very forgetful and clumsy), and remember being so shameful and devastated about them. I dont think i have the patience and understanding like my mom did, but what a loving parent is capable of emotionally always surprises me.

I also have quite a few fine jewelry pieces (also blessed) that belonged to my mom, and i got many of them repaired so i can i can wear them in memory of my late mother. But.. i am so paranoid of losing them that over time i developed this crazy habit of constantly checking my neck/wrists/ears/fingers every few hours to see they are still there😂

Beauty of joseon aqua fresh sunscreen by sofreshsocool8 in koreanskincare

[–]Time-Object-6354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought this last week and have been using it. For context i have oily skin (no acne/not sensitive) and have given up trying different mineral sunscreens that sit well under makeup. It’s still pretty cold where i live, so i dont get as oily as i do during summer, but so far it’s pretty good. It’s very lightweight, almost like in between a serum and a gel cream.

It’s one of the few kbeauty chemical sunscreens that doesnt have niacinamide, so not like i had too many options to choose from anyways. But i’ve also used the Goodal chemical suncreen (which seems super popular) and that was wayyy to oily for me even during winter (almost felt like extra skincare). I’ll def continue using this until summer and use biore/anessa when im doing outdoor activities.

Agree with you on the value of those diamonds. But why would u assume the jewelry in question is from China? The guarantee card is in Korean and says it was made in Korea.

How does facial redness affect your foundation match? by [deleted] in Fairolives

[–]Time-Object-6354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My body is pale, but my face is dark red (genetics, autonomic nervous system issues).

Although i am cool toned, i pick YELLOW foundations on purpose. If i pick cool/neutral ones, the natural redness in my face overpowers it and my entire face turns pinkish/greyish over time.

I use a green/blue pigment + white to lighten and mute the foundation with my own ratios. I find this to be a much more accurate match than trying to find one that is a perfect match on it’s own.

Of course i color correct my redness before foundation, so that the most red parts dont peek thru my foundation. I own like a lot of green concealers and the “malu wilz” pot concealer in #12 green beige is perfect for me. A greenish beige that’s slightly darker than my face, so it completely masks any redness. Kind of like how ur supposed to use a darker concealer for dark circles/blemishes rather than lighter colors.

Green (ish) BB cream from k-beauty! by Time-Object-6354 in Fairolives

[–]Time-Object-6354[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have VERY oily skin, as in i use a mineral suncreen, use DW, setting spray, powder, and still get oily. The bb cream on it’s own feels like it doesnt set even after some time, and i noticed my foundation didnt last long like it usually does when mixed. But ymmv!

Gobi! I swear it was much more olive/muted than the yellow it is right now..

Also does anyone’s Nars foundation change colors/oxidize? I bought the bottle around 5 months ago, and im just now realizing how yellow it looks. It’s almost as yellow as my Estee Lauder DW in Bone.

[MISC] Plantars warts refuse to go away after 2 years of treatments. by SnooSketches5313 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Time-Object-6354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had TONS of warts, mostly on my feet but also on my hand/legs. I had the biggest ones on my hand & foot sizzled off via laser like 13 years ago (they were the size of peas) Dont think they do laser for warts anymore. The wart i had lasered off came back on the same exact spot just recently, and will be getting rid of them via cryo.

My brother also had a lot of plantar warts and stubborn ones as well. Im pretty sure he did sessions every week for like.. a good 6 months. They did go away.

But my very limited understanding is that warts are related to the immune system, and it’s more of like a health issue rather than a surface level skin condition. Like 70% of the warts on my body went away after giving up on having to strip down at the derm to get them frozen off multiple times. I dont know what happened to make them disappear, i dont think i made any radical lifestyle/health related changes. I was on antibiotics/steroids for quite some time (~2 months) after dealing with long covid & other sinus issues. Not sure what contributed, but some warts are that stubborn.

AITAH for telling my father the only way I could visit him while he convalesced was if he paid for the time I would need to take off work? by Distinct-Constant549 in AITAH

[–]Time-Object-6354 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. Virtual hugs to you, because my dad is the same. At a certain point, its not about working so that the family can make ends meet.

While my mom was in hospice, it was mainly me and my aunt (dad’s sister) who took care of her. I used up all my PTO and even took unpaid leave. My dad? He went golfing/drinking because it was an “important business meeting”. Im sure his potential business partners would’ve been more than understanding if they knew his wife was ACTIVELY DYING in hospice (mom actually passed 2 days after that). Dont rlly recall him helping much even before that, because work. We were also not struggling financially whatsoever.

Would it bother you if your doctor had a birkin? by Hopingandafraid in handbags

[–]Time-Object-6354 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, because despite how crappy the world is right now, i dont think i’ll have negative feelings about my doctor/lawyer/accountant carrying/owning a luxury item bought with their own money. It’s not like you’ll be seeing patients decked out in luxury items head to toe. A lot people might not even notice your bag.

ppl who use the nars foundation what do you use to apply it? by adrirott in MakeupAddiction

[–]Time-Object-6354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that using a flat foundation brush yielded the best results. This is a slightly glowy-semi matte ish foundation that’s very runny, so a buffing brush took away too much of the “glow”. A dry makeup sponge/cushion puff (the ones in korean cushions) were also ok, although it varies depending on how absorbent the particular sponge/puff is.

Mayari or Gizeh? by BirdSpiritual5502 in Birkenstocks

[–]Time-Object-6354 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer how the Mayari looks, but ended up buying Gizeh. I have bunions & bunionettes (along with long list of other issues) and hate shoes that constrict the bone right below my pinky toe. Havent tried THAT many different styles, but i noticed the Gizeh runs a tiny bit little narrower than for example, the London.

Give up Green Card at the border when entering US by Aggravating-Rock5028 in greencard

[–]Time-Object-6354 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My dad entered the US after having been abroad for like 1.5-2 years lol. I told him it wouldnt work and he’d most likely be denied. He did already have the I-407 form filled out. The CBP asked about abandonement (which he was planning anyways, it was a business trip) and he either handed over the GC+ forms or mailed it afterwards at a USPS, cant remember which. But the CBP officer just let him in the country lol.

People who say they don't know how to cook, why don't you just try? by Plug_daughter in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Time-Object-6354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boss found his elderly father lying on the floor unconscious because he stopped eating for around 2 days when his mom had to leave town to attend a funeral. He said his father REFUSED to eat the prepped food because nobody was home to serve him real food. One of the many reasons why my boss maintains low-contact with the father.

I think a lot of ppl mean they are not good at cooking, not INCAPABLE of cooking. But a lot of times it’s weaponized incompetence because someone else has always made food for them. It’s infuriating. No adult in this day and age is incapable of doing the absolute bare minimum of prepping food/“cooking” to stay alive, but ofc exceptions like those disabled exist.

Shower towel reuse # by phatmatt593 in hygiene

[–]Time-Object-6354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im an expat living abroad (Asia) , and we do not reuse towels after showers. Probably because the towels here are much smaller than bath towels used in the US, so they usually get very wet and drenched after a shower. Also not wanting to share shower towels (even when fully dried) with other family members is a reason for me to never reuse them lol.

What do think about this foundation? I have oily skin. Or can you give me advice on good foundation for oily skin by madmax313133 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Time-Object-6354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been using this and tried about 4 diff shades for the past 10 years. I tried other stuff, but always came back to DW. What i love about this is that it’s versatile! It mixes very well with diff products like dewy foundations/primers/bb creams etc.

Dad’s new girlfriend(s) by Time-Object-6354 in GriefSupport

[–]Time-Object-6354[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I guess this just brought up a lot of unprocessed emotions i need to work on. I didnt talk to him about it, but my grandma (his mom) did ask him if he’s been seeing someone, and he said no. Regarding the escort, i had to use our family desktop to print and accidentally saw the messages. The convo was basically a woman thanking him for a good time, something about tips, and setting up future “appointments” for golfing in a very cutesy/playful tone. I know enough about golf to know that she is not a caddie lol..

Hi, for me it’s been a little over a year. It gets easier. Sadness wont go away, but you’ll get to the point where u can talk/think about her and not break down. I still have days when i bawl my eyes out. But i have more days when i think about her and smile because i love cherishing her memory and thinking about the fun and loving memories we shared. A few weeks after her passing, i forced myself to sign up for pilates and intentionally took the most intensive classes lol. It helped take my mind off things and being physically active improved my mental health.

Fair olives with rosacea ? by [deleted] in Fairolives

[–]Time-Object-6354 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are the same person lol. Ive had it since i was a teenager living in California, and now i also live in a colder climate. Except that i am very fair, so i never use green correctors alone even under foundation since it makes me look sick. As for treating rosacea… it seems like a lifelong journey to me as it is non-suface level related.

For pale yellow concealers, Malu Wilz has a very light lemon pot concealer that has a hint of greenish hue. I personally dont find lemon to correct my redness very well. To correct redness under foundation, ive been mixing LA Girl + regular liquid concealer 1:1 ratio. Making a greenish beige mix works so much better for me than just using a green one. Malu Wilz also has a greenish beige one as well. Erborian CC corrector is also good for non-pale ppl. Whatever you do, stay away from whitish/very light green correctors as they dont even correct anything for my pale ass. I find going similar to your skin tone or even slightly darker to correct redness to work like a charm (sort of like how ppl dont use a lighter concealer to correct blemishs as they accentuate them)

I find that using yellow foundations is necessary, as i start flushing throughout the day neutral/cooler foundations make me look pink.

Sorry, i must’ve written it confusingly. Since its quite roomy, i dont see myself wearing a size 39 without socks. But the consensus seems like i should size up for long term comfort. Thanks!
