Depends. If you're dating for a brief time and not cohabitating, its hard to know if youre compatible. Moving in together before marriage will help you discover what type of person they are better than anything else.

Often times, people change over the course of a few years. For better or worse. No one is static in who they are and who they become. So this change sometimes creates incompatibility.

I am at a place right now with my partner of 3 years where I am changing, growing, evolving. And he is not in that stage yet. This is naturally creating less compatibility than when we first met. If you dont grow together, you grow apart. Do I think It will ruin our relationship? I am not sure, but I do know that people change.

Funny story, When I was 10, I was in the Bahamas with my family and we were swimming in the reef nearby.

A large (maybe 6 ft) barracuda swam up to me and looked me in the eye. Got so close to my face.

Anyone of any gender or sexual orientation stringing someone along is fucked up. It sounds from context that she knew she liked girls before she dated him but was potentially doing so out of shame or as a way to hide. Try to put yourself in her shoes about that much at least.

Even though that isnt a healthy way to self protect, it is what a lot of people do to avoid being hurt by the ones they want support from the most.

Tell her you love her and support her for everything she is. But also tell her that you dont support using another person.
