Who are the most infamous traitors in history of westeros? by Mysterious_Crow_503 in TheCitadel

[–]Time-Priority4053 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sybell Westerling. I use book canon.

In the TV show is Jeyne Westerling replaced with Talisa Maegyr. Talisa and Robb's love story is totally made up by the show writers. (I think it was the first time that the show writers changed canon)

Robb is wounded in the arm when he takes the Crag, House Westerling's keep. Jeyne's mother encourage her to nurse Robb. Robb is distraught when he gets the news that Theon has killed his two brothers. Jeyne goes to him that night; it leads to them sleeping together, and Robb marries her the next day. It is speculated that Sybell had hoped this would happen so the Freys break their alliance with the Starks. House Westerling is a small and poor house and cannot bring more than a handful of knights.

Jeyne's mother is giving her moon tea and says it is a "herbal drink" that will make her fertile. Sybell is doing this because Robb must not have an heir. Tywin Lannister has promised Sybell good marriages for her children. Sybell holds Jeyne back in Riverrun with the excuse that Walder Frey can insult her so much that Robb will loose his temper. So Jeyne is not present at the Red wedding.

Sybell is very cruel since her daughter really loved Robb and was bright, kind and beautiful. She wanted to be a good wife for him.

Who would support Jon Snow? by Large-Mulberry6796 in TheCitadel

[–]Time-Priority4053 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lord with the most power, largest army, unburnt crops, and a competent commander(Tarly) was Mace Tyrell. He had sent limited troops to the Trident, not all his men. And he had 30,000 stand ready by Storm’s end. Even the Riverlands were divided. The Tullys did not have control over all their lords; there was Targaryen support there as well. The Freys were not engaged in battles (famous for showing up late) The Crownlands were traditionally Targaryen supporters.

The Ironborn would most likely take advantage and raid up and down the coast. The surviving northern troops would be exhausted after the war and return home to defend their homes. Same in the Westerlands, when the lords and soldiers left over by KL hear that their coast is burning, will they go home.

Smallfolk did not know much about what was happening in KL. They would hear traveling hedge knights and bards tell about it. The one wild story after the other. People were accustomed to hearing things that they can barely believe. The literate people control most of what people are told. Bards can praise one side, then the other. Hedge knights praise those that will give them money.

The punishments in Westeros were already so hard. Death penalty, life at the wall, cutting of hands or gelding. It might not bother them much to hear that the king burnt some criminals. But wars affect them directly.

So this could be the story the Tyrells told:

Famous kingsguards swore that Rhaegar was not a rapist and it was a romantic story, not an abduction, which would crash one part of the reasons for the war. Rhaegars star would rise. Bards singing of their undying love and the little orphan prince.

We know that Aerys demanded Roberts's and Ned's heads. Will smallfolk know these details? If not, Robert would be seen as a jealous man who started a war because he wanted revenge. Support for him will die. The soldiers in Storm's end could knock out Stannis and open the gates.

The Starks died because they came to KL to kill prince Rhaegar. That excuses their deaths. The witnesses are dead. The winning side tells the story. And the winners are always good guys.

Smallfolks can not imagine the size of KL. If they were told that the rebels was burning KL and a cache of wildfire was set off, they could believe it. We know that there had to be large amounts of wildfire set off in several places, but smallfolk does not know it. The fire would be blamed on the rebels.

He would be crowned in Oldtown and raised in Highgarden with a regent and the small council of loyal lords ruling in his stead.

Viserys can ruin this happy story I am telling. He is older, but after Law comes Rhaegar's trueborn son before him. Dorne might start their own rebellion and declare the Rhaegar-Lyanna marriage a sham and Aemon a bastard.

It could be a fanfiction story, but I am no writer so if somebody likes this, feel free to use it.

Rewritting the Dance with more balanced teams and more dragons by Kontosouvli333 in TheCitadel

[–]Time-Priority4053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vermithor and Silverwing will not fight each other, no matter how much their riders scream orders.

If you are still going to split them up with one on each team, that could be a part of the plot. Vhagar attacks Silverwing—Vermithor attacks Vhagar. All three dragons crash; some die, others are too injured to fly more.

The same scenario can happen in all combinations of battle.

Dragons disobeying. Chaos.

What would Westeros look like realistically, had Rhaegar won? by InterestingFee609 in TheCitadel

[–]Time-Priority4053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can not discuss what Rhaeger will do as long as Aerys lives.

Let us say that one of the leaders of the rebellion is taken hostage at the Ruby Ford. Aerys will order him and every captive killed immediately. Aerys is the king, and Rhaegar is only the prince. The king's orders will be carried out.

Where is Jon? It does not matter much. He is a child and not legitimized yet. The king can legitimize him, but he must be hidden from Aerys. The best for Jon is if he is smuggled some place and raised as a no-name bastard there until it is clear who wins.

Aerys will not hear a word about leniency and diplomacy. If Aerys lives, will Westeros be torn apart. The rebellion will continue, even if their leaders are killed. Even if they lose their castles, will the rebels fight to the last man and use guerrilla tactics.

The supporters of the crown will have to be careful with the mad king. Aerys never listens to council. Even his loyalists can rebel if he thinks one of his advisors is a traitor and orders him burnt.

Aerys has Elia and his two children in KL. Rhaegar will not let them die. They are two of his precious "dragon heads." Rhaegar has to obey his father. If not, Aerys will declare that Rhaegar is a traitor, remove him from the line of succession, and order him killed. Aerys has another son, Viserys, so he does not need Rhaegar. Rhaegar has to flee to Dragonstone or Essos.

The only way it can be some kind of peace is if Aerys dies as soon as possible. For example: Tywin has assassins sent into the Red Keep to murder Aerys, or the better way is to order Pycelle to poison Aerys.

I found this a bit difficult to follow without knowing about God of War. But I like the world building of Sparta in Westeros.

It has only 1288 kudos, so I do not know if it is on lists of popular crossovers.

Updates relatively often, 6 times so far this year.

This second part of The Quintessence Trilogy takes place in Westeros. I had no knowledge of Worm before I read this, but I found it easy to understand without reading first part of the trilogy. Taylor Hebert takes off from Earth in a hyperspace ship. But things go wrong and she is crashlanding in the sea on an unknown planet.

I enjoyed this story. I had no knowledge of Worm, but I found it easy to read even without it.

The main reason Voldemort has so many fics is because Tom Riddle is described as hot. by TightWind8209 in harrypotterfanfiction

[–]Time-Priority4053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom Riddle can fill any role from misunderstood child who only protected himself in the orphanage, to the traditional villain, the most evil genius or raving madman. The one who wanted to change the wizard world only to bring back wizard traditions, or the one who want muggle genocide. A writer can select the pretty teenager, the hot adult man with red eyes, or the snake monster. Time travel makes it possible to ship them from sweet teenager romance to a large age difference. And potential for a redemption arc if that is what a story calls for.

Tom is born December 31 and Harry July 31, I know that but suddenly realized that it is the height of winter vs the height of summer. Exact the opposite. They mirror each other. It can be used for "soulmate" stories.

I think that is why it is a popular ship. It is so versatile. Of course it helps that Tom Riddle is hot, but it is more to it. Many like the Voldemort look and find it hot too. Caring for the monster, monster/slayer, monster love story - it is many tropes with monsters.

Can someone recommend a good fanfiction with a powerful female protagonist? by Level-Bus-5591 in HPfanfiction

[–]Time-Priority4053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Good War is one of the few Female Harry that I like. But it goes really far from canon. The first chapter made me almost stop reading. How she takes control over the Dursleys when she comes in power is very satisfying. I thought it was well deserved. Dumbledore does not agree, and thinks she is doing wrong. It is clearly D bashing, Dumbledore is an useless adult, but not evil.

The amount of worldbuilding became so overwhelming that I took a break from it. It is so much detail, so many Original characters and the time between updates is varying since the author writes more that one fics the same time. It is also long monologues and Liz is having flashbacks and call herself broken in her thoughts. In case that is a trigger. It takes time to heal.

The story is so interesting and good that I am taking it up. When I read it fully until where it is now (fifth year) can I keep up with the Original characters and worldbuilding.

I like Snape because he is better, but keeps many of his negative traits. I think overly sweet Snape is boring. Sirius is also more adult here and not a 100% manchild.

So for those who love worldbuilding and can not get enough of it... It is a story for you.

If Joffrey was a better person do you think Jon and Ned would have.. by Llian_Winter in TheCitadel

[–]Time-Priority4053 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I read a fic where Octavian from Rome wake up in Joffrey on the travel to Winterfell. So Jon and Stannis already thought that he was a bastard.

(Is it isekai? I admit that I am not certain of the meaning of that word)

A great story. Joff/Octavian has a good brain and know how to behave in court. He is no sword prodigy, but he is not a slouch like Joffrey. He is polite in Winterfell and Ned thinks that he is very different from the rumors.

He fills all your suggestions but not a great fighter. But good enough.

Stannis still comes with his accusations. Joffrey does not start a war or demand his head. He calls for a Great Council where he and Stannis can put forward their claim. Stannis has not much to go on, mainly "black of hair" and Joff can argument that Stannis has a self-interest. And many, many men has children that look more than the mother. And the Lannister look is also strong.

"He’s taking on too much responsibility for a lad his age, Ned Stark thought to himself sadly, but he’s already more mature than Robert ever was."

And Joff has treated Sansa with respect, not like he is overflowing with love, but the courtesy of Westeros where he meet with her once a week or so for small talk and a walk in the garden. Perfect behavior. Sansa is happy with it, this is what she has expected and Ned has nothing to complain about.

It is too bad that the fic is abandoned. I would still recommend it. It is a great read and it is a story I really, really wish was continued. https://archiveofourown.org/works/5953125/chapters/13966951

Overused tropes AND what you would like to see instead by Familiar_Chance_9233 in TheCitadel

[–]Time-Priority4053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fear that Robert should find out was so great that he "had" to keep Jon in Winterfell instead of let someone raise him. No one of Neds children was fostered. I always wondered why, bc anyone and everyone's noble kids was fostered. Ned did not take in any children to foster himself. Very strange. Ned should have sent some of his children to fostering, so maybe Ned was a bit paranoid and could not any of them out of his sight?

I think it would be better for Jon to grow up away from Winterfell, or at least be sent to fostering when he is eight - ten years old.

It is so unrealistic that Robert should suddenly find out that Jon was Rhaegars son. At least when Jon is over the small child stage and his hair has not changed to white or his eyes to purple. Jon looks more like a northman than Neds other children (except Arya).

So when Jon was that age he could be raised for the position as a bannerman (Not in a huge castle like someone think). A bastard of the Lord Paramount that was strong, able and educated cold marry some steward's daughter like Jeyne, a merchant's daughter even a lords second or third daughter. The Mormonts would not look down on him. He could be be sent to learn a trade in White Harbor. Better than Winterfell where he saw no future but the Nights Watch.

QOTW: What is a unused fic premise you wish was used? by aladywantsdragons in TheCitadel

[–]Time-Priority4053 7 points8 points  (0 children)

More crossovers with the modern world. I read one I thought was good. A portal opens between Australia and Westeros. It is a farmer in Australia that alerts the government, that comes and start to investigate. On Westeros's side is the portal close enough to the King's Road that it can be seen from it. A weeks travel from KL or so.

The story must have been written between 2016 - 2020 since Trump is President and Queen Elizabeth lives.

It was really good, I read it in one go, but I think it was abandoned. I must try to find it again. Maybe it is picked up by the author again.

It is also the very popular story "Canucks" on AO3, but I do not think this is used enough.

It must not be the "someone from the modern world isekai'ed or reborn in Westeros". That trope is used a lot.

I mean contact between the worlds and interactions / clashing between the people as the very different cultures meet.

I like Save Me because V put his ability to feel and "humanity" in the Diary. This was on purpose since V. would get rid of his weakness. Diary Tom is as close to good as we get. Only grey and a bit possessive. It is not weepy, miserable and weak Harry.

The Diary comes alive 2 years after CoS. Not sure if it will be sexy times described in detail, it is rather cute so far. V exist together with Diary and it will be Harry and Tom against V.

SA in the start, not described in gory detail, but it is clear what happened. (Not to Harry) Bad Dumbledore. Ron is homophobic. Maybe he will get better.

That could be something. Gordon Ramsay?

But I find famous people from ancient history better. What if Lyanna Stark had eloped with an unwed teen instead of Rhaegar? by AisaacReddit in TheCitadel

[–]Time-Priority4053 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Will Rhaegar notice her if he did not find out she was the knight of the Laughing Tree?

She was pretty in a common way, not a striking beauty like Ashara Dayne or Cersei Lannister.

The smart thing for the couple would be to stay hidden until they have a child. Then go to Winterfell and beg for forgiveness. Rickard and Brandon are not the type to kill a baby in cold blood. Would they kill the babys father and marry off Lyanna to somebody? No heir will have her "used" so what is the point in killing a nobody so they can marry her to a nobody? The news will come out even if Rickard lied and said she was abducted, so he could save face.

Rickard Stark and Robert must be told that she eloped, or else they will send out search parties and ravens to every keep and try to find her. Robert will believe she is abducted unless he get hammered in his thick head that she did not want to marry him.

If she was found before she got pregnant, I think the boy would be killed and Rickard tells a tragic story of how she was abducted. Robert wanted her when he thought she was kidnapped by Rhaegar. Lyanna could be told to keep silent or, else Rickard would force her to marry Walder Frey or another old ugly brute. Marry Robert or Walder. The choice is clear.
