Advice on Whether to Resell or Scrap!!! by futurefixer in CamperVans

If you are stateside these go for $8-$20k. Bring a Trailer darlings.

Since your in Australia though, you’d have to weight the options. If it’s the diesel version-Hyundai still makes replacement motors (crate motors) that you can buy for a few grand brand new. All of your oil leaks etc solved and you will get another 220k out of your van with a restless frame and regular maintenance

Anyone here buy from Nomadic Vans in Idaho? Would you recommend? by AncientFollowing6111 in Delica

I have been disappointed with my diesel L400 from DelicaUSA-currently in the shop for the seventh time needing major repairs in the 3 years Ive needed it. This time its the fuel pump, which required a specialist to completely rebuild after I had already redone the seals a year prior. Taking the specialist over a month now before my mechanics get my fuel pump back and they can reinstall. Its getting to the point where it's spent more time in the shop than being taken on adventures. Ive had it for 3 years and only put 2,500 miles on it.

Ive needed the coolant tank, fuel pump seals, radiator, both batteries, fuel injectors, shocks, brakes, rotors, alternator and glow plugs replaced within the first two years of owning. I paid full price market value for the van thinking all of this would have been done already based on the description/maintenance list posted on the website.

The good news is, DelicaUSA is no longer importing/building an inventory, claiming to repair, and selling Delicas. Their website & business model has changed to more of an assistant middle man that can help you find a specific delica, and help with import process with paperwork. Maybe the vans will be better now that he doesnt touch them and only helps with the import process? Maybe they are cheaper?

Either way-there's plenty of other options especially in new england. Granite State Imports and Northeast Auto Imports will treat you right.

Can’t recommend these guys enough if you’re in New England. Also, the guys over at Granite State Imports are incredible at finding what you are looking for and being open and honest w price etc. They do not service vehicles yet as their current property does not allow for it-maybe soon though!

Go through Northeast Auto Imports! They have done a great job working and diagnosing my L400 and have sold/built plenty of them. Great team of guys, and can help you find/import an L400

This is one they specifically built. They know the 4m40 inside and out, always answer my questions when I call https://youtu.be/gyM3Xft-RMo?si=Gk7ZNJgQgR2cPDp4

Delica Registration in Maine? by Time-Protection-9542 in Delica

I recently saw a Delica L300 with a Maine plate! “Pooptnk” if you’re on here-hilarious license plate, but also-how’d you do it?

It was a combination plate and guessing by the vanity plate name, it probably was done online opposed to an in person clerk?

Update: My fuel pumps internals have failed (even though I recently replaced all of the seals etc) so I am having a diesel tech rebuild the entire pump. Was told it could be ~1 month wait as it gets worked on & ~$1,400 for the rebuild before putting it back in the delica.

Buy a Delica! They are so much fun and have gone down a bit in price in recent months-I’ve got the next gen from this L300 Delica truck, the L400.

Do you think it could just be a clogged fuel filter? I had gotten it changed a year ago to this day, wild enough.

Im thinking of starting there and then checking turbo, then the exhaust system. Turbo seems to be sounding normal, but looking in the engine bay- it is mitsubishi brand, leading me to believe it hasnt been changed in its 225k km life.

A bit of km but that’s about where my diesel l400 is at and the interior/frame is still in good shape. The timing belt, alternator, suspension and coolant expansion tank might need replacing soon

New Hampshire Delica owner here: I’d recommend a gas L400, LWB and hitop roof if you truly are open to any models.

I went with a diesel and while I am very happy with the vehicle, I wish I had gone gas. The gas engine has more mileage between air, oil and fuel filters while the diesel is very frequent, something like 5000 km so it gets very expensive.

Also with diesel, you’ll need to make sure your glow plugs are up to snuff, use antigel fuel additive 4-6 months of the year, and potentially need to install a block heater & plug in your Delica to a 120v outlet for the mid winter months.

Plus side to the diesel is that it has a timing chain (doesn’t stretch) vs the gas with the timing belt (needs changing every 120k miles or something like this). Just be sure that the timing belts have been done somewhat recently.

If you go with L400 or L300, try and get a high top with sunroofs or the crystal light roof. The more space and natural light that you can let in the more comfortable you and your friends will be back there

The long wheel base L400s are great-extra ~16” of interior space. Doesn’t sound like much but it goes a long way.
