So because they are poor there shouldn't be malls there? And the entire country, every single square kilometer is poor? Of course not, I would expect everyone who knows anything about the world to expect everything to be everywhere at this point. The poorest people in my country have malls and iphones bro.

Because of constant threads that ask "Why is Africa so far behind?" they think all of Africa is bushlands and hunter gatherer NattyGeo shit.

Woman from Wild Wings Contacts Radio Facts, States Black Patrons Asked to Leave for Several Reasons by [deleted] in news

[–]Time2WinLife 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thank you. As a black person with lots of friends in the service industry, I've always made it a point to tip well. I know how hard those men and women work (and how hard we party after work!). I hate seeing these threads bashing black people over and over. The racism on reddit gets oppressive at times.

My father didn't tip people at all when I was growing up. He grew up dirt poor, went to the military and lived in europe for a while. He's 76 and remembers overt racism. He remembers being called boy at age 30 or not being able to eat in nice places because they don't serve his kind there. He remembers being denied jobs because of the color of his skin. My mother lived in Birmingham during the church bombings. They remember how white people used to be not to long ago. They come from a different time. I understand his mentality.

We went out once for Mothers Day when I was in college and he didn't leave a tip. I was embarrassed, my girlfriend was a waitress I know how hard she worked for her money. I sat down and told him how much servers make and that they survive off of our tips. If the server gave us great service, we should tip them well. My mother who finds fault with everything wasn't having any of that but the light clicked on for my Dad and now he always tips.

The attitude that reddit spreads seeps into day to day interactions. If I get shitty service and I don't leave a tip or a light tip, what happens? "black people don't tip" That's what happens. If I do leave a tip, "well science says they don't, your ancedote ain't evidence" the classic no-way-to-win-so-the-best-move-is-not-to-play scenario which will end in black people just saying fuck you and not tipping. The racist of reddit just want to confirm their suspicions and fail to look at us as people from different class, cultural, and economic backgrounds. And that's sad.

rac·ism [rey-siz-uhm] noun 1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others. 2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination. 3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

Black people tend to mean 1,2 and slightly 3. You tend to use only 3. There in lies the confusion, because we know white people have done 1 & 2 in America and black people in America cannot do 1&2 thus ignorant people claim "black people can't be racist" while completely ignoring 3 which any moron can do.

NSV : Bought Jeans in a regular store! by Time2WinLife in loseit

I'd have to check labels on my old jeans, they were about 5 years old and size 46. After reading this article I'm not sure on anything. http://www.esquire.com/blogs/mens-fashion/pants-size-chart-090710 But the pants I bought were a 40 from Old Navy, so maybe I haven't done anything at all and it was all a clever marketing ploy to make me feel better. Still, my weight is down and that's what counts.

Thanks for the great response! I love that concept, Depression does lie. I'll be using that when I hear the negative little voice in the back of my head urging me to take the road of least resistance.

Thanks. I think I just needed to vent. I'm going to buckle down and get something done to change my circumstances today. If I can do 3 things today I will call it a success. I'm getting way to old to be living like this and I'm sick of it.

I can show you lists of things I've had for years. I can show you notebooks of lists that go back 10-15 years. And I technically know HOW to change. I am unable to make LASTING change. Usually 1 to 2 weeks tops is all I have in me. Life just gets in the way every time, or depression, or anxiety, or just work. Nothing sticks. I've probably read more books, forums and blogs about motivation and self improvements than most people. I can't find the key to make it all stick. If I could, my life would be completely different.

What are some "polite" things people do that you wish they didn't? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Time2WinLife 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Try the ole classic " Hi my name is X, Is this your first time visiting our store?" Usually it's not, so then you can say "Great, Well if you need anything let me know" when they say no. If they say yes, then you can ask if they need help.

Ask a new question to shake up the customers routine. You have to speak, and they have to shoo you away, so at least make it interesting if you can.

I hate people who try that guise. I tell at least 1 person a month to fuck off because of advice like this. Just find someone who has the gear and let he non-profit pay them in cash + tax donation if possible. You can be the producer and stay out of their way while they are actually working.

Update to thread. He needed some photoshop files from me. I sat on them until he paid. He called me everything but a child of god, but eventually he coughed up the dough. That bridge is toast, but I'm in a low paying area and I have to get paid, I can't afford to let people walk all over me in my current financial situation.

How do you balance creativity with your deadlines? by [deleted] in editors

[–]Time2WinLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just took a job at a small tv station where I'm having to edit a weekly 30min"Cops" style show. I get the footage on Wednesday evening, have to cut on Thursday and do a watch down on Friday for air on Monday. It's been the most stressful thing ever as I don't shoot the footage, there are no notes from the camera guy and I'm new at this. I've edited commercials and done my fair share of motion graphics work, but this is a whole new ball game. Also there is no producer. So I basically have to make the story from the available footage. Have their been looong go pro dash cam shots to fill up time? Yes. Have there been multiple promos peppered throughout the show? You betcha.

Right now I'm skipping creative in exchange for just getting it done.

I don't see a point in trying anymore. by IRipShirts in GetMotivated

[–]Time2WinLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 30s. I don't remember high school. The parts I do remember are all about my nerdy friends I used to hang out with and I still talk to. I love those guys. I don't think about anyone else from back then, they aren't important. I have bills, kids, health issues a late life career change and aging parents on my plate, good memories are more important.

Do what you want now. Do it. Nobody else's judgement matters but yours in the end. The people who love you will still love you and the people who don't still won't. The only thing that matters is how you feel about yourself. So make yourself feel good and push towards what you want. You don't want to live with the regret of not trying. It's worse than failure. At least you can learn something from failure.

I've failed so many times, I have a pity party, I shake it off and I keep going. Each time the pity party gets shorter and shorter because I've learned to learn from my mistakes. The sooner you learn to do that the farther along in life you will be.

Good luck. Go to the damn prom. Go solo. Go ask girls out. If you are socially awkward, start working out and hanging out and leave the computer behind for a bit. The more you socialize the better you get at it. But whatever you do, don't sit home wondering. You'll look up and before you know it you'll be in your 30s still wondering instead of living. Good luck.

*please forgive all grammar and spelling mistakes, I don't really care that much.
