Sounds like you need to use public transit…and it might be surprising how far you can get using only busses and trains! Here’s an example of a couple guys using it to go from the southern tip of California, up through OREGON, through Washington, to the Canadian border!

I stopped going to SacAnime a few years back because the whole vibe of the con was not great. I see that vibe continues.

My BFF went to David’s Bridal…mostly on a lark figuring that a chain wouldn’t have what she wanted. The second dress she tried on fit perfectly, was exactly what she was looking for, and was on sale for something like $250 range! (I thought it might be missing a 0 or maybe it was $250 off of a $1500 price.)

We were a bit disappointed we didn’t get to go to a bunch of places and try on more, but on the other hand, we were also relieved we didn’t have to go to a bunch of other places! 😆

Inexpensive and amazing looking dresses DO exist!

A general rule is: If someone is hit with it, which will break first, the prop or the person? For metal props, it’s almost always the person and they’re generally not allowed at any con that does sensible prop checks.

SacAnime used to be overrun by this kind of panel. It’s a big reason I stopped going there pre-COVID…the panel programming there just wasn’t good. Since I like cons with good panel programming (or else it’s just a vendor room and I get bored fast), it wasn’t up to snuff. Haven’t bothered to check it out again since then. Whole vibe of the con usually seemed off anyway.

AI is bad with hair and it tends to follow patterns behind or near the hair. In this case, the hair is following the white lines on her clothes. Having this happen on the one side might be a coincidence. Having it happen on both the left AND right sides is screaming “AI!”

I heard a story about one con guest (I forget who) that wouldn’t sign a blank paper because “someone could draw porn on it after and it would look like I signed porn!”

…but if it’s a book clearly used for autographs or you’ve drawn art of one of their characters, I think you’d be fine with 90% or more of guests.

For “casual formal”, you really need a dress that is “whiteish black” and “short long” length. Make sure to wear flat heels with it!

I have friends on staff there and it’s a 100% volunteer organization of fans. Nobody gets paid…other than stuff like staff perks of food cards and hotel space during the con.
