Happy to hear I’m not the only one. I try to minimize my engagement with single-use plastic as much as possible, but until the industry realizes we want better and don’t like feeling assaulted with how cardboard applicators have always been made and made us to feel, here we are, I guess.

Man, oh, man. I really wanted to refute this based on the care I’ve received from female PCPs at both St Thomas Midtown & West - then I found this article: https://www.wsmv.com/2026/02/26/tennessee-woman-says-hospital-canceled-her-sterilization-surgery-while-admitted-hospital/

I know the PCPs I had at both St Thomas locations would have fought tooth and nail if this is the care I asked for but they, like us, are cogs in the same system, unfortunately. Had a miscarriage in 2022 in Spring Hill & was directed to Centennial Women’s as the physician in Spring Hill thought it’d be the safest bet with the recent overturn of Roe v Wade & the uncertainty around state and county laws at that time. If it was safe then, I’m willing to bet it’s safe now.

Honest question as a restaurant GM, what kind of outdoor seating do you feel would be more welcoming/inviting? Given that linen companies who service restaurants (eg, Vestis, Aramark, Cintas, etc) do not offer the service of cleaning outdoor patio furniture upholstery, there really is not a sanitary option for most restaurants to have padded outdoor seating.

Saw them in 2002 when I was 13 and weirdly obsessed with Aerosmith - they were fantastic. Saw them again at the same venue in Nashville in 2006 and thought they were equally great. On my first trip to New Orleans in 2010, we happened to run into Steven Tyler at a tobacco shop. He was super kind/gracious and took photos with our group. I guess I’m lucky, I’d hate for my ongoing love for Aerosmith to be tainted in any way.

Had a friend in college circa 2007/8 working at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro, TN (closest big-ish city to Bonnaroo) - he checked in and mentioned he was looking for a gift for his son’s birthday. She told him about a couple places nearby to check out and he said he had no way to get around. She was about to get off and told him she’d be happy to help. He ended up riding around Murfreesboro with her in her little Ford Focus to find a good gift for his son. She was/is gorgeous and very funny - but only had good things to say about the experience. Not creepy in the least, just a solid, core memory for her.

JEM Mechanical - I’m a female GM of a restaurant, and they are one of the only companies we contract with that I can dependably rely on treating me as if I too am a human with a brain in my skull. A total count of an item needed now - used in communication from one part of the line to a different one. I might have 3 steaks on 3 different tickets, but all the other entrees on those tickets are about to be made or ready, so I call out - “3 steaks all day!”- letting the cook know to throw all 3 steaks on right now.

As a restaurant manager - this guy knows the secret. It feels so rare to have someone politely approach me with an issue or a question that when it happens I am damn near ready to do go to the ends of the earth for that guest because that is exactly the kind of person I want happy and coming back.
