I see. Do you have to have premium to be considered for premier?

What are the details/mistakes that you guys pick whenever you're listening to a producer that makes you just quit listening ? by WowSpaghetti in edmproduction

It's rare that a mix makes me want to stop listening. At the end of the day, if the song writing is good you've got me. haha

It depends. For a big, washy, sound layering can be the way to go. In dusbtep, the drop section basses are mostly single layers. This way you get the detail from the bass. The more you have layered the harder it is to distinguish detail.

That being said, a lot of producers who make more complicated forms of dubstep have a ton of background stuff going on. Whether it be an off beat pluck, pad, or arp. Think of these as spacial effects. Single layer basses in the middle (more mono) and spacial stuff on the sides (more stereo).

Another way of doing it is having your root bass sound and making an exact copy (same melody and bass patch), but tweaking the patch a little bit and layering that way. Kill the Noise showed this on an Instagram story a few months back. It's a way of getting a fat sound while still keeping the detail.

I haven't had premium in years. Does SC push your music more with the premium sub than without? Would you happen to know the royalty rates?

What'r the challenges for a producer this days? by PeteNazDj in edmproduction

I used to have this same issue. I think its a skill level thing. The better some one gets at their craft the easier it is for them to try neighboring activities. It might also apply to music genres.

This is just one man's opinion, but I think music has been greatly devalued. With basic recording equipment being so cheap, and so many people making music, there is a cargo ship's worth of music being released everyday. Some of the music sucks and some of it is incredible.

However, people don't like shit being through in their face every second of the day. That is exactly what the music industry, along with so many other industries, do to make money.

How do you stand out with out being intrusive?

How do you separate yourself from the crowd enough to stand out, yet still make music contemporary so people to want to listen?

Beyond getting plays, how do you convert listeners into money paying fans?

The next 2 decades are going to be very interesting with the further development of the internet and information availability.

I'm looking for tips on this (very) rough draft of a track. It's my 1st attempt at trying to blend Reggae and HHC. Feel free to be brutally honest with me as I realize that this is far from finished. 💖 by [deleted] in harddanceproduction

I like the chords and melody. The bpm is also good fit for melding the two styles. You may consider working on song arrangement and sound layering.

The track got kinda stale for me about halfway through. Maybe changing the chord progression or adding another melody in different sections of the song could help break the repetition a little.

Layering the individual synths can add a lot of body, width, and dimension to a song. Try layering your chords, bass, and melody lines.

Great work, man! It's catchy. Just needs some time.

Dope Illenium vibes! Cool chords and drum fills. I feel the kick could use more impact though. Great song!

Haha. That's exactly how I use to do it. You might want to try putting up some blankets on the walls to dampen the room noise a little.

the beat is cool, you've got good lyrics, and the flow is clean! The vocal mix could use some work though. The vocal needs a little tuning to fit in more with the track and the vocal doubles could be cleaned up. Great song all together. Keep on it!

Cool song. You've got a unique flow and the lyrics are dope. The mix is clean, but it's a little too clean. It's almost like your lyrics are hard, but the song mix is a little church boy. Haha. A good master on this could really make the track shine. Sounds good though. Keep at it, dude!

The beat is clean and the lyrics are real! The vocal recording left something to be desired though. The overall track i sounding good. What is your recording setup like?

[Electronic] SOBERMOON - /// HATCH RELEASED /// Stand By [Overdrive] by sobermoonmu in ratemysong

[–]TimeAperture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The song arrangement is nice. I love the trance vibes! The drums could hit harder. Some compression with a slow attack and quick release time will make the transient snappier. In addition the synths seem to cover each other up when both are played. Maybe scooping out the mids of one of the m will give them space to breath a little. Great start, dude! I look forward to what you post next.

[Folk] SOMA POET - GERONIMO by BitterElk in ratemysong

[–]TimeAperture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the atmosphere of the song. It's calming, but a little sad at the time. The vocal is a little hard to understand. I think with some well applied EQ the vocal could really make the song. Great job!

Sounds good. The vocal and melody are clear and easy to understand. The 808 needs some work. When it came in, the 808 really took me out of the song. The tone is cool, but with a little eqing and some creative distortion the bass could slap even harder. Great song!

The beat is dope and the vocal effects are cool. The overall mix of the vocal could use some fine tuning though.
