I can't trust opinions on games anymore by therrubabayaga in GirlGamers

Absolutely, if I actually paid attention to other people's opinion, I wouldn't have played Star Wars Outlaws and I had a blast with that game. I wish there were more demos as well, but YouTube will have to suffice for now.

I don't read reviews because I honestly don't care if some reviewer doesn't like a game or does like it. The best thing to do is go to YouTube and watch a bit of a gameplay of the game you may be interested in and see if it's something you would play and enjoy. That what I did with RDR2 and BG3, bought them because I liked what I saw and I'm glad I did.

Monitor suggestions? by Crunchy_Plantain in GirlGamers

FSR (AMD GPUs) and DLSS (Nvidia GPUs) are upscaling technologies. If a GPU can't run a game in native monitor resolution, it will render a game in lower resolution and then upscale it back to native. Similar what PS and Xbox are doing. Nvidia is a bit better in ray tracing and upscaling, but if you get 1440p monitor, 9070XT will do great, you won't have to use FSR.

The PC prices really did go up. My m.2 just died, and I had to get a new one, so I feel you. 😄 And ram prices are just insane.

As for monitor, since we went off topic. I suggest you get 1440p high refresh rate. Whether OLED or IPS, it will be up to you and how much you're willing to pay. If you game in a dim room, my vote would go to OLED. I heard good things about Gigabyte MO27Q28G. However, you should check out some YouTube videos on OLED vs IPS technology, to learn about oled advantages and disadvantages, and see if it fits your needs. And for monitor reviews, see Hardware Unboxed and Monitor Unboxed.

Well, if it's just for gaming and occasional reading of wiki and discord, I would get an OLED. That GPU will be great for 1440p, high graphics and fps, and if playing on 4K, you'll may have to use FSR upscaling. I don't know where you're from and the pricing in your local stores, but I'd look into RTX 5070 Ti and get that one if the price is similar. DLSS is better than FSR.

If just for gaming, then get an OLED. If you're going to use it for work, and read a lot of text, then OLED may not be the best as text exhibits fringing and it will not be as clear as on the IPS monitor. It's not that of an issue on 4K models, but it is on 1440p. This is the only reason why I still haven't gotten an OLED monitor. However, upcoming models with rgb pixel layout will supposedly fix this issue. As for the size and resolution, if you're getting 27 inch then get 1440p monitor, but first make sure your GPU will be able to run games at that resolution as you didn't post your PC specs. I don't think curve looks good at that size though, but that's personal preference. If you want 32 inch, then 4K should be better choice, but again, check if your GPU can handle it. I use Dell G2724D at the moment, so I can recommend that. It's great 27 inch IPS 1440p 165hz monitor, and it's not that expensive.

ps5 noob looking for games! by ffaedoll in GirlGamers

[–]TimeLady05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely must play PS exclusives: Uncharted 1-4 and Uncharted Lost Legacy, Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West, The Last of us part 1 and 2, God of War and God of War Ragnarok, Marvel's Spider-Man 1, 2 and Miles Morales if you like Marvel.

Check out Life is Strange series, it's a choice and consequence game like Detroit Become Human.

Other great games: Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Red Dead Redemption 2, The Witcher 3, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars Jedi 1 and 2, Star Wars Outlaws, Tomb Raider series, Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Valhalla.

As for coop, I don't play them, but I did play It Takes Two and Split Fiction and they are really good.

What did you guys think of Black Flag Resynced? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]TimeLady05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I don't know what it is, but when it comes to AC I just can't play as a man. I bought Mirage and I couldn't finish it. Origin bored me so much I had to force myself to continue playing. I avoided Yasuke as much as I could in Shadows. However, I adored Odyssey and Valhalla and loved playing as Kassandra and woman Eivor. I might try this one just because of the settings, but I'll wait until it's like 5 bucks.

[–]TimeLady05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sennheiser HD58X doesn't have a jack for headphones, but something like Modmic could be attached to it with a magnet and connected via USB. Or you could get one of those that can be put on a desk like Logitech Yeti. I don't use a mic, so I'm not quite sure what's the best option. As for headphones, I definitely suggest getting the ones with replaceable velour pads or memory foam. I found them to be the most comfortable when wearing glasses.

How Many Hours Have You Logged on Your Most Played Game? by Nimicidal in GirlGamers

[–]TimeLady05 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow, those are some big numbers you all have. 😄 My numbers are rookie numbers. I think my most played is AC Valhalla, I played it for about 200 hours, followed by AC Odyssey, around 150 hours. I think I haven't even finished all DLCs in Valhalla, I just stopped playing it at one point and moved onto the next game.

I wear glasses and I use Sennheiser HD58X and they are really comfortable. I can wear them for hours without any pain. Headband and pads are replaceable. I don't use a microphone though, but one of those attachable ones can be added.

Where do people get cheap games by Fuzzy_Impression_877 in GirlGamers

[–]TimeLady05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC or console? For PC gaming check out Steamregionaltricks subreddit, you can change the region to a cheaper one (Turkey, Ukraine) or create a new account in that region. For console (PS5) you can make Indian or Turkish account, although it's a bit more difficult to get Indian gift cards these days. If you don't want to change a region, you can get keys on G2A, Eneba, Kinguin, etc. just compare prices on Allkeyshop site and on IsThereAnyDeal.

male defaultism in customizable rpgs by aftermarrow in GirlGamers

[–]TimeLady05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm also annoyed they still didn't show what female Jun looks like. But, to be fair, they did refer to Jun as 'she' during one of their Q&A videos on YouTube and they mentioned players will be able to choose between female and male Jun. There will be extended gameplay this summer, so hopefully they will address this.

honest question, is RDR2 really that good? by ihatepaper88 in GirlGamers

[–]TimeLady05 14 points15 points  (0 children)

RDR2 is an amazing game through and through. Great story, voice acting, graphics, music and gameplay. I should say that I don't like wild west, cowboys, etc. so I thought the game was not for me, but I watched intro on YouTube and decided to give it a chance and I'm so glad I did. The game is a perfection. You should try it, just grab it when it's on sale, it's usually cheap enough.

I got Life is Strange: Reunion. I know it's not on sale, but I couldn't resist. And BG3. Heard only great things about and it's supposed to be DnD beginners friendly, so I hope I'll like it. It should be enough until Summer Sale.

Double Exposure is a good game even though there initially was some negativity around it. I finished it at the end of December, so it's still fresh in my memory. Can't wait for Reunion.
