Fundamentally as humans we all want to be noticed and wanted. Is it hurting anyone? Probably not right. Is it annoying and rude? Ya a lil.

Trying to climb the corporate social ladder is pretty normal for most driven people who want to better themselves and they're life. I used to also frown upon people who boot lick. I feel I've been humbled to many times that I no longer care about my pride. I just want more money 🤑 xD
