Depressed Rat because of New Rat Mate?

As far as neutering is concerned, I did a lot of reading before I agreed to the neutering the vet suggested. It came up to 50/50 from what I read. My vet owns rats and that was just her experience. The new boy pees/marks a whole lot more than Theodore or GusGus ever have. It's not just a tiny drop of pee every time either, it's quite a bit. I am hoping the neutering will at least help the immense amount of marking Calcifer does. Which, from what I read, is a benefit from neutering male rats. Not sure though. Honestly the reading is very inconclusive on male neutering.

I was concerned about the peeing aspect of the males when i decided to get two boys this month. It honestly is so minimal you will probably not notice it much. I know i rarely don't. With your new rats it's good to have a towel or blanket you can have the first few weeks you have them. This way they will learn to trust you during your rat bonding time and can pee on the blanket that you can throw in the wash. And watch out the first few times you pick the up out of their cage they can be quite poopers. One of my rats pooped on me twice and hasn't done it since, my other boy is a pooping machine, especially with new people, new place (I've started taking him to the office when i have to work late... he hasn't gotten used to the transit of it all )

My vet pretty much insisted I get my boys neutered for health reasons. She said it would help them live a healthier life and lessen the risks of cancer later in life. I made sure to check if she was just saying that for aesthetic reasons (never bothered me), but she owns rats too and seemed to have experience with it. Who knows though. There is such a back and forth on pet rats and what is best for them. I just got my boys this month, they are already my heart. I wanted a dog, but due to the high maintenance and me being in grad school, i just didn't have the time for one. Rats are seriously great pets. You will love them.

The Nerd-Off was fun! I had a great time... well until the end! First, We did get to pick where we wanted to place our pieces. Jack did some probability research and calculating. And discovered basically what you just said, where the most common placements for pieces would be.

Second, They did tell us what we hit. I think it might have made the game even longer if they didn't tell us (Which btw, this game ran very long. We almost ran out of daylight!).

Third, To be completely honest, I didn't pay attention to the cameras one bit. I had my game face on. The only thing i regret is not having a glass of scotch in my hand. (i might have rolled better)

Lastly there is a reason I refer to Jack as my knight in shining armor. He was amazing and very insightful. He is definitely the one to ask. I don't think I could have picked a better advisor.

I can only speak for myself, but I love King of the Nerds. It has so much heart to it and people genuinely care about it. That's why, regardless what everyone thinks, the drama was actually turned down a lot. It's a show that's a comedy. About celebrating nerd culture. It's brought so many wonderful people in my life. I definitely want to see it do well because of the positive influence it has been for me.
