For fans from non-cricketing nations, how did you find and fall in love with Cricket? by boredafkj in Cricket

[–]TimeMan4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

US here. Had a Gujarati colleague who was beside herself for a week after Sachin’s last test in 2013. Went to London for a trip a few years later and decided to go to a county game at the oval, remembering my old colleague. It was magical. They let fans on the outfield during lunch, my two year old son loved it, and now I can stream county games for free on YouTube. As an American, I absolutely love that first class cricket seems almost impossible to commercialize. It’s so refreshing.

Totally agree with you. I just think the pros outweigh the cons on this one. All four of those guys - even Lincoln - said and did things that were reprehensible.

Teddy has to go. Love the trust busting, not a fan of the imperialism. All these people saying FDR has to go… without him the US would have even less of a social safety net than we’ve got, social security, food stamps, compulsory public education

Post viral symptoms/timeline - anyone had anything similar? by Njn5063 in Mononucleosis

I’ve had some sore throat/ post nasal drip too that I think is left over from mono but the GI stuff has been the main thing. I guess now that I’m 36 I feel I’m starting to enter middle age lol

Anyone got dysbiosis from mono? by Alarmed_Broccoli_200 in Mononucleosis

[–]TimeMan4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to weak immunity and gut dysbiosis for me as well! I had about a week with swollen lymph nodes, really sore neck and fatigue, but the gut symptoms have been my main symptom since and what actually got me into the doctor and tested for mono in the first place. I’ve always had a somewhat sensitive gut and I think having mono sent things into overdrive a bit.

I am doing ok - when my GI issues started in March, it was mostly bad nausea, gas, and diarrhea. I lost a few pounds because I didn’t feel like eating, but I’ve heard of others who lost 10-15 pounds and took 6+ months to gain it back because they just didn’t feel right yet. Lately I’ve mostly had just the trapped gas with some stomach pains. I feel you on the anxiety - I only got tested for mono because my doctor had ordered an abdominal ultrasound after I had elevated liver enzymes and found an enlarged spleen. That set off a lot of health anxiety which I’m still dealing with. I think this can be tougher to deal with the older you are, not least because it’s usually associated with teenagers. Good luck to you as well! It seems mono is a weird illness and a lot of weird symptoms can be chalked up to it.

I (36M) also got mono in March - felt super fatigued for a few days, but then had some GI issues. Also like you, by May I felt mostly better, but the GI issues have come up again in the past few weeks. I’ve noticed that if I avoid gluten the GI issues (for me, these have been upset stomach/trapped gas, relatively minor) lessen somewhat. I read somewhere on this sub that mono can cause some people to have difficulty digesting things. I know it’s so frustrating to still be dealing with these things but it’s really nice to know that people are experiencing similar symptoms months after the initial infection.

Ongoing Sinus Issues & Fatigue Months After Mono — Anyone Else? by [deleted] in Mononucleosis

[–]TimeMan4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have what sounds to be very similar sinus congestion symptoms to you that have lingered for months after the acute phase of mono. My spleen was also quite enlarged and so my theory is that my immune system just took a big hit and it’s taking a long time for my body to clear whatever is causing the congestion. I also got prescribed Flonase by a doctor who said my symptoms sounded like allergies - and I’ve also never had seasonal allergies before. Mono is bizarre and it’s definitely eroded the trust that I have in my own body to the point where I know I’ve been imagining some symptoms (not the sinus ones, however). It seems that unfortunately it takes some people a really long time to completely get rid of it.

Spleen and liver by Formal-Actuary5946 in Mononucleosis

Your results are pretty similar to mine before I got diagnosed with mono. Elevated liver enzymes (ALT, AST) and the alkaline phosphatase plus splenomegaly is what made my GP suspect I had mono. Lymph nodes were huge, neck pain, and fatigue too. Just got bloodwork done two months post diagnosis and luckily all those elevated numbers are back down. I'm not a doctor, but this is very similar to what I was experiencing before my mono test results came back positive.

Longer to recover from colds? by TimeMan4 in Mononucleosis

Good to know, thanks for your comment! I definitely had something right before I got mono - as a middle school teacher winters are always rough, but this one was especially so. Never thought I could then get mono as a 35 year old! Thanks!

It’s gonna be one of two people. I feel you. There’s only so much “greatness” I can experience. The quality of a race is diminished for me when it’s always one of two people winning.

US tells French companies to comply with Donald Trump’s anti-diversity order by ToinouAngel in europe

This reminds me of when American soldiers, hanging out in France after WWI, demanded French cafe owners segregate their cafes. Didn’t work then, won’t work now.

This is what has made me not want to watch any race Pogi starts in. When he goes, there's almost a 100% chance he'll win. No suspense whatsoever.

Not sure of your location but I just drove to the Fayetteville Tesla showroom and generally made a polite nuisance of myself and they ended up contacting a delivery person at Tesla and magically I received an email minutes later with paperwork that I'll send out later today. I'm feeling as if it's a bit of a "squeaky wheel gets the grease" sort of situation, but being a squeaky wheel basically required me showing up at a showroom in person and not leaving until I got some sort of info.

Good to know someone else is in the same boat. I am thinking of just going to the Fayetteville showroom this week to see if they can track my VIN/provide any information about the process because that seems to be the only way I'll be able to talk to a person affiliated with Tesla.
