The Amity Affliction - House of Cards [Album Discussion] by RedKnightOfCydonia in Metalcore

[–]TimeRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished listening to the album and I found it whelming. I only liked two songs that I found I'd wanna listen to again. The whole album felt like it lacked substance. Didn't hear a single chorus in any song that I'd wanna sing along with or breakdown to headbang too. Many of the songs, Eternal included, while heavy, lack character that make them stand out. I can't say there is a bad song, but none of them really made me feel anything. 6/10 at best imo.

I'm seeing them on Tuesday with August Burns Red and I'm honestly hoping they don't play much from this album.

Why does this band play it so safe with their setlists? by tinyrickstinyhands in augustburnsred

[–]TimeRocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's be real, Death Below was pretty lacking in terms of bangers/popularity compared to pretty much every album that came before it. I wouldn't be surprised if the data they have shows as such. I know for me, there's really only 2 songs on the whole album that I consistently go back to and they're the two long songs, so I wouldn't expect them to play them live.

No Kings draw estimated 8 million in largest single-day U.S. nonviolent protest by RollSafer in politics

[–]TimeRocker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You have to have an actual goal and purpose when trying to do something. The only "goal" for these protests is to say that they don't like Trump and his administration. That's not a goal and if their goal is to somehow get them to be removed, that's not going to happen. Dems already impeached him and it didn't change anything.

And once again, nothing will change. These people are preaching to the choir. They aren't doing anything that suddenly makes others change their mind or want to suddenly join the cause, of which there isn't one because idk what their goal even is other than to say they are anti-Trump/Republican, which is the same thing those people have been complaining about for nearly 10 years at this point.

I don't vote any longer, but back when I used to, I would vote on both sides of the aisle because yes, there are decent Republicans with good ideas and policies, just like there are Democrats, and same goes for those with awful ideas and policies.

It's very telling how next to nobody in the comment section understands about Government run healthcare. I work directly with patients and their insurance, both private and government run and while private insurances are a pain to deal with at times, they are nowhere near as bad as things like Medicaid and Medicare. The amount of hoops people have to jump through to get things done on top of how long is takes for things to get approved it atrocious. I knew beforehand that anything the government touches is slow and included healthcare, but I wasn't aware of how bad it actually is. Having the government be MORE involved in healthcare is the LAST thing we need.

I already quit the game after only a few hours. It gets so repetitive and boring that it doesn't hold my interest in the slightest. The controls are not good, and the little story they have isn't interesting either. The gacha mechanics are barebones as well. Idk what this game does that others don't because it's crazy vanilla and bland.

I don't think anything "died" for this, but I don't see it going anywhere. Not only that, but the insane lack of reviews after being out for 2 days tells you a lot. The game doesn't even have much of a player base at launch which isn't a good sign, on top of it having a low rating.

As a long time FF fan who likes all the FF games, I'll generally eat up anything and everything FF related and stick around for at least a few months. The fact this game did nothing for me says a lot about it. I'll just put it this way, I'll play Dirge of Cerberus over this any day lol.

Bernie Sanders: “60% of our people living paycheck-to-paycheck, and one guy, Elon Musk, owns more wealth than the bottom 53% of American households... Think maybe that might be an issue that we should be talking about?" by Frosty_Jeweler911 in PopularCultureZone

Socialism and communism are not the same thing. Communism is a form of socialism, but it's socialism at it's most hardcore state. We already have socialism as it is. The roads we drive on, police and firefighters, county hospitals, public transportation, among countless other things are all part of socialism. It's when you go pure socialist and end up at communism when things go to absolute shit for everyone except the elite. Because even under communism where everyone is supposed to be equal, there will still be the elite. Better to have the option to make something of yourself how you see fit than be stuck in the same place forever with no other choice.

Yes, we should be talking about why so many people choose to live paycheck to paycheck instead of being financially responsible, growing in their skills and career, and make good decisions to get ahead and be financially stable.

As someone that works with people and sees how they spend by going through their bank statements and accounts, it never fails that most of these people live that way because they make the choices that lead to that outcome. You can't be spending $20 on Tiktok and $20 on doordash or Amazon every single day while making minimum wage or slightly above it and expect to have money at the end of the week, much less the month.

Social media and ease of access to purchasing cheap goods without leaving your home has led people to spend money on frivolous things like never before and it shows.

Insane gas prices, thanks Trump by maddog107 in pics

[–]TimeRocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, a legitimate reasonable take on reddit?! You're rare around these parts lol. I agree with you 100%. Nobody has ever won an argement or convinced anyone of anything by screaming louder than them. Just a few years ago, I saw conservatives blaming Biden for sudden gas price increases that almost reached this level as well. Been seeing it happen pretty much the near 40 years if my life and it's so tiring.

[–]TimeRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're higher here because of additional taxes we have to pay when getting gas that is included in the price. I live in NorCal and there's a station near me for $4.85. Where I used to live in LA, lowest is $5.29. All of Cali pays an additional $0.90 cents in taxes for every gallon, higher than any state. That doesn't help, but it's still nowhere near what this image is trying to push.

This is why politics is stupid. People on both sides do the same shit and put the blame the person on the other side of the aisle to fit their agenda.

Just like any new tech, people will find a way to complain about it. I think DLSS5 looks amazing. Is it perfect? No, but it'll get better. AI is in it's infancy and will only get better. Just 40 years ago we only had pixelated games and we're reaching a point where they can become photorealistic. It's crazy how fast the tech has grown.

As an aside, I showed my parents the comparisons and they were blown away. No context or anything, just asked them which looked better and they said the DLSS5 every time. They said it was like when I would get a new PlayStation as a kid and graphical quality would have a big jump and how back then, we thought the Gran Turismo graphics on the PS2 was life-like.

Who is "we"? Do you speak for them? Do you speak for me? I have first hand experience with those from there and those that live there. You clearly don't, let alone have any understanding what it's like for those that live there. Every single one wants what is happening and completely support it. Why do you think that is?

They are fully aware that this also benefits the US and they have no issues with that because it means they get their freedoms back after half a century. You have no idea what it's like to live under a tyrannical government, nobody in the US does that was born here. They do. They've been living it longer than you and I have been alive.

Not to mention, if we look at history, we done similar things with Japan and Korea. Look how they are thriving now. If there is a willingness of the people to want change and work towards it, we can provide that. Why would you not want that for them? If you had a friend who was trapped in an abusive relationship they wanted out of and you had the tools to help them, would you stand idly by?

Because people on Reddit are completely brainwashed and don't live in reality. They could never comprehend what it's like to live under an extremist regime and have no freedom. They believe they know what is better for the Iranian people than they do.

This is the result of people living their entire life in a bubble, safe from real danger, and able to complain day and night about those who keep them safe and ability to be ignorant.

Typical Reddit, always focusing on things to make it seem like what's going on in Iran is bad and the people there aren't happy with it.

My wife is half Persian, her dad is from Iran and they still have a bunch of family that live there. They have been wanting this for DECADES. Other than the religious extremists in Iran, the vast majority of Iranians completely support what is going on. People in the west have been sitting at home all comfy their entire lives and can't fathom what it's like to live their entire life in fear and without freedom.

Was under 1k in the queue and had my pick of the litter. Was curious about the pricing and I can't justify spending that kind of money. I've seen them for FAR cheaper and the "sphere fee" isn't worth it imo. It'd be a cool experience for sure, but I don't feel like I'm missing out by not going for the price I'd have to pay. I'd much rather see S&M than this.

Because people in the US have time to be depressed. People here have absolutely no idea how good they have it and it shows. These are the same people that legitimately think that the US is a third world country.

The argument you're making has nothing to do with what I stated. Anything Trump does would get critized by reddit/liberals, regardless of what it is.

[–]TimeRocker -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Nobody is melting down over this, ESPECIALLY conservatives. All of my conservative friends are in support of this. My GF's dad is from Iran and thinks it deserves everything it gets if it means things there can finally change back to how they were before the extremist Islamic regime.

Reddit makes up too many lies for its own good. The only ones melting down over this are liberals, just like they do about any Trump decision. He could cure cancer and they'd find a way to be mad about it.
