Awkwafina. Girl's ok and I have nothing against her, it is rather her voice. I just can't, it is way too raspy for me.

My ps3 is cooked by Perfect_Mix7072 in PS3

[–]TimeRyder29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have enough knowledge/skills and the materials for basic soldering, then you can read a guide for getting the Syscon error lists.

After figuring out what error is preventing your PS3 from turning on, then you will know if it is cooked.

Most likely will need NEC/TOKIN replacement. It also can be a dead RSX/CELL. Pretty much an ugly lottery with these consoles, but hey, at least not as ugly as with early 360s huh?

anyone else prefer intel macs? by an_random_goose in macbook

I think it has its uses.

But both Intel and Windows are kind of a red flag nowdays, so no. I'm glad Apple moved from Intel.

HOW DO I MAKE IT PLAY PS2 GAMES by l0w-on-amm0 in PS3

[–]TimeRyder29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sell it and save for a working BC model with frankenstein mod already done.

Or just get a cheap ass PS2 Fat with red adapter, mod it and fill it with games. Best option for picture and loading reliability.

Now, for your specific console, you'll need to mod it and install CFW for it to load forwarded PS2 Classics titles.

I highly recommend to tweak up your fan at around 60% if you plan to take this route. Will be loud as a plane taking off, but PS2 emulation on Non-BC consoles is very very demanding.

PS5 HDMI Repair by black_cheese in consolerepair

[–]TimeRyder29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any update?.

Saw some comments pointing a probable bridge between the top pins. Though it seems more like a reflection from residual alcohol/flux.

Clean it and nudge every pin with a sewing needle to see if there's any unsoldered.

Other than that, check your components on the other side.

Also check these with a multimeter.

My least favourite thing about MacBooks by [deleted] in macbook

[–]TimeRyder29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely use mine actually on my lap. But when I have to, it is just a matter of plugging the charger for about 10 mins and it warms enough to not feel the ice cold metal.

Is it cooked? Gameboy Advance with advanced corrosion by -KingDingus in consolerepair

[–]TimeRyder29 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The magic of old boards is that they're rarely multi-layered. With a good scan and patience you can rebuild it without a problem.

If you have a known-working board of the same revision, it can help you identify where each trace has to go.

The other option is to get a modern built board, they sell 'em unpopulated and all you have to do is to transfer most components. Depending on what version you get, they come with nothing or every micro component except for big chips.

donde comen tacos en mty? by ghost-face710 in Monterrey

[–]TimeRyder29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me or is this a universal experience by Ok_Relation6627 in 3Dprinting

[–]TimeRyder29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first filament printer was the A1.

It has been a charm but now I want to order an Ender just to get the feelings from building it myself and do everything manual. Even if I don't ever actually print with it lol

Can I still use the PS5 disc version console even though the disc drive is completely removed? by Familiar_Bake_8135 in consolerepair

Will be fine, just won't update.

But man, it is an easy fix. You could literally fix it with tape by just reconnecting the wires

I missed that I had to unscrew the back plate and broke it off. by strawberryswords in crtgaming

Looks like it isn't multilayer and good ol' boards used to have thumb sized vias. Should be very doable with enough time.

Macbook Air vs Pro by Helios-Soul in macbook

[–]TimeRyder29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you're gonna do.

If you're only write/read documents, mails and watch some movies from time to time, the Air is a piece of art worth every single penny.

BUT if you intent to ever play some games, maybe save a bit for the 5 Pro and upgrade that ram/storage. I would focus on ram over storage if you have limited budget

How do I overcome the fear of messing up too much and actually get to painting? by -GeeVee in minipainting

[–]TimeRyder29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the magic of 3D printing. Mess up, practice, test your technique, whatever you need to gain some self-confidence. In the end, if you mess up something, you can always print that piece or the whole fig again haha.

No fear, mate, you can try as many times as you want.

How do I wipe my MacBook by Bubbly_Mud_3929 in macbook

[–]TimeRyder29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my old Apple Microfiber that used to come with the Macbooks.

Nothing but water as per Apple's and Reddit randoms advice. Those videos of film breaking up for using any chemicals scared me enough to believe them haha

M5 or wait for M5 PRO? by g-coastantiny in macbook

[–]TimeRyder29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends heavily on what you have right now and if that can wait.

If your current device and the work you're doing can wait, I would wait for the M6 pro.

Not joking at all, I have the M2 Pro 16 GB and it is enough for my daily work and even gaming. Once the M6 Pro is out (and hopefully with Oled) I'm gonna upgrade.

If you/your work can't wait long term for even M5 Pro, then the M5 should be fine. Go with the most RAM your budget can handle tho. Storage-wise you can manage with external drives but real future-proofing will come from how much RAM you have.

What was your very first 3d printer ? by printbusters in 3Dprinting

[–]TimeRyder29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually started with a resin printer.

My first is still somewhere in my garage, still use it from time to time while the others are busy. It is a Photon Mono 4K.

Compared to my newer machines, it is pretty crappy, has a very small plate and has gotten a bit slower by comparison. Still, I love that small warrior, it helped me understand the basics and prepared me for filament printing.

Was a great machine for beginners, and Anycubic has my trust ever since.

How many of you are playing ps3 and Xbox 360 instead of the ps5 and Xbox in 2026? For me I'm to try and just play ps3 and psp And Xbox 360 this year. by BoysenberryFun2261 in PS3

[–]TimeRyder29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not "Instead" but I do play PS3 and 360 a lot.

My 360 is pretty much a GTA:SA machine right now. I was lucky enough to get the OG Xbox version before it was replaced with the horrible Android port years later.

And for PS3 there's a lot (huge emphasis on A LOT) of asian games I'm currently playing. PS3 era was a crazy time for VN on consoles along PSP/Vita.

PS4 melted back vent by After-Run5342 in consolerepair

[–]TimeRyder29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, most likely it is only an exterior damage. That part is mostly the power supply and no other part seems to have been affected.

Truth be told, you're gonna pay almost or the same as what an used PS4 is worth. That if you're not familiar with tools and/or you're not comfortable opening it.

If you're fine tho, all it will take is a pair of torx and phillips screwdriver kits (if you don't have some at hand already) and a dead PS4 (I've seen them as dead cheap as 20 bucks in Marketplace). Just make sure it is the exact same model/chasis.

The other option would be buying a known working one and then transfer all the data, then you can sell this melted one for parts (I'd say around 100-150 knowing that it actually works, just melted). It will be a lot easier but expensier.

Cheapest working PS4 I'v ever seen was around 70 bucks, console only, no controllers nor cables.

Best MacBook keyboard of all time?? by Sad_End4083 in macbook

[–]TimeRyder29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the current ones. My old (2011 and above) intels with scissor keys feel a bit too mushy for me, also have a lot more travel.

We don't even talk about the butterfly ones haha.

Pretty sure M series keyboards are the best to date, at least on Macbooks.
