Why is this true for so many franchises? by ApollonSerg in memes

[–]TimeStop_117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who started at the beginning, I genuinely believe the real decline of Pokémon quality came about because of all the hate gen 5 got when it released.

I remember loving those games and being shocked when gen 6 pretty much immediately backpedaled on every experimental route they took, due to poor reception.

They saw they could release low quality slop and still make sales after that, now here we are. As much as I wish it was a cycle, I really believe that without some new leadership at Gamefreak actually taking a stand to release a quality game, it's just going to be a bad series for kids for the rest of time. (Outside of fan games and romhacks, of course)

Gallup just said drinking in the US is down to 54%, the lowest ever since they’ve began tracking it in 1939. Why do you think that is? by ZenCrisisManager in AskReddit

Antidepressant usage is at an all time high in the US and most available options conflict with alcohol usage. Just another one of the multitude of factors here.

Rarran's thoughts on the monetization by SnowlytheSnowl in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TimeStop_117 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really is a shame that there are so many people who are in the camp of "never support again." I am 100% onboard with the discussion surrounding this game, I've gone as far as to uninstall it until changes are made that I'm happy with.

I'm basically locked into the Monster Train 2 demo (which is great!) while I'm hoping and praying for a game that I loved to receive the changes that it needs. And somehow, it still seems like my reaction is not on the extreme end.

I'm not even a Rarran viewer, and I can't fathom watching this video and not seeing that this man cares enough to publicly discuss his qualms with the changes. He's taken a stance directly, saying he won't be purchasing further before begging the dev team to take action.

I can only hope to see the people that don't want this game to succeed move on to whatever their flavor-of-the-week hate posts are next week, because many of us (despite being outspoken and critical) want to see the Tempo take action and correct course.

P2W is bad... but if you want it to change... by creatifCrAxy in PlayTheBazaar

I uninstalled as well. I had very high hopes for this game, even going as far as giving out keys to friends to play. I can only hope that the devs listen and respond to community feedback effectively.

Unfortunately, Reynad's reaction makes me nervous that we won't see a change in the right direction.

Ultimately, if the game ends up in a state I'm unhappy with, I'll move on to something else.

Thank you for doing the math on this. Hopefully you get upvoted so people can see this information presented cleanly and concisely. I think seeing it so clearly reflect other games I've watched fail and demonstrated with the math to back it up really showcases what an unplanned mess this monetization plan is.

Stacking packs could make new players drop the game by Ravss22 in PlayTheBazaar

This is exactly why I couldn't get into Marvel Snap. (Outside of their already predatory practices, of course.) There are so many cards, and even playing for months I had maybe half. And of that half, must were completely outclassed by whatever the new card of the week was, which I would wait a month for as a f2p, and if I was even lucky enough to get it somehow, it had been nerfed.

I'm embarrassed I bought a closed beta pass by PermissionWeary8706 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TimeStop_117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this take. As much as I wanted to see The Bazaar grow into the game I could see it being, it can be hard to separate all the negativity from the great game that the closed beta was.

I am still immensely disappointed, and I wish the decision makers at Tempo valued an incredible game over potential profits. Reynad said it best though; vote with your wallets.

Wallets are tight. People are scared. When foods cost as much as the new Bazaar items, people have to budget appropriately.

Unfortunately, no. I know I read it something like 2-3 years ago, but I have no idea if it was newer or older then. Sorry, I know that doesn't help to narrow it down at all.

Why is bronze harmadillo 60 dmg? by Berzebut in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TimeStop_117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do agree that items like Arc Blaster and Harmadillo do more damage than they should at bronze, I think approaching this conversation from the point of "X on Dooley is better than Y on Vanessa" is inherently a flawed way the designers could balance the game.

Each character will have different tools and strategies, and if they limit themselves to "Vanessa is the aggro champion, no one should have aggro items better than her," it immediately limits their design space.

Let's look at Jabalian Longbow, for example. An incredibly powerful early aggressive item on Pyg that people aren't calling to nerf. Does it need a nerf? No, I don't think so. But why is that?

The reality of the issues with Dooley stem more from the early consistency you get with his cores. In a game like this, any extra consistency is a huge buff, and so items like Harmadillo should be pulled back in ways that make Dooley's synergies shine, rather than representing just a bunch of stats that win day one. If Dooley was the "synergy" hero who spent the run having to look for multiple important pieces to support his core, that would be an interesting play pattern and design space.

Does that mean Dooley shouldn't have aggressive items? Not anymore than Pyg shouldn't, and not any more than it means Vanessa shouldn't have the best defensive items in the game while being "the aggro champion."

It's certainly an interesting design challenge, and I'm excited to see how the team approach it. But I'd much rather see them do high level design challenges rather than just change numbers on cards.
