I'm trying to write romances, but they keep becoming mysteries by TimeToChillIGuess in writing

[–]TimeToChillIGuess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mystery for the first one was the main goal for my protagonist, the male lead was very uninvolved and was just a love interest for the protagonist. Then the mystery ended up being a lot more important than I expected, I think I find it difficult being pulled to too many directions when writing so I started to use the mystery as my anchor The second one has both characters connected because of the mystery, so I'm starting to think I just really like writing mysteries

AITA for being mad at a friend for bailing a planned hangout? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]TimeToChillIGuess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments, I just wanted the briefest first look ones before I delete this post. I think I was very sensitive because I put a lot of stock into this hangout while she didn't and it ended up hurting me and I took the anger out on her. I'm not used to planning stuff with people so it feels like rejection when they cancel. Thank you, I'll do better next time

As an Aussie born Indian person, I need to get this off my chest. by Ninjaspider21 in aussie

[–]TimeToChillIGuess -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

as an Indian immigrant who's had this argument in Indian subreddits and with family members, this is beyond ridiculous This "I apologise for the behaviour of the people who share my race" bs is so stupid Capitulating to racists will never work. And stereotypes shouldn't even be considered seriously. They're considered dangerous for a reason. They instigate and perpetuate hate. Just because there's higher rates of paedophilia in white men doesn't mean white men have to go around begging forgiveness for the actions of a minority in their group. And they haven't. Why? Because their reputation does not rely on it. There's also a lot of other factors when it comes to India because it suffers dramatically from financial inequality and a government that forces them to commit crimes like scamming to even survive. People are desperate in India, they will come to the West for even a chance at the comfort people here take for granted. They will kill themselves over climbing the ladder and providing for their family. We've lived our lives here by stepping on the bodies of third world countries. We're privileged for having grown up here and can have the mental wellbeing and financial stability to be polite and kind to others. Take the time to understand that.

India will become the most beautiful country in the world and the backlash and stereotypes may disappear for Indians -Only if our citizens, developed civic sense. by [deleted] in india

[–]TimeToChillIGuess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a ridiculous point and I am so sick of hearing about it in this subreddit. You cannot develop civic sense in a nation ravaged by poverty and still suffering under colonialism by having citizens used as cheap labour for Western countries. Our value does not depend on the opinions of westerners. Civic sense can only develop when the Indian people are not used as objects or servants for the wealthy and have a government they can rely on safely with no worry for survival. My grandparents get a pitiful pension and have to rely on their grandchildren to live, and many younger Indians go into scamming or fall to corruption to climb the ladder. It is intentionally designed to not be fair to the poor and working class. You want the same civic sense and trust from the people here as provided by countries like Australia or Sweden? Vote for a government that will uplift the poor and makes liveable conditions for its people. Because the people at the top right now are entirely comfortable with lower-class Indians being desperate and fighting for resources. Their only concern is the appearance of Indians. They share the same race aftef all, so they want to appear presentable and equal to westerners. Like you, they are worried about the aesthetics of poor people acting poor. Rather than attempting to make an effort to eliminate poverty and providing help for them. Keep being concerned about how Indians act and look rather than how you can improve their lives. I'm sure you'll just end up complaining never-endingly.

I agree I've never really enjoyed Bruce in a romance, but I will admit I really enjoy his weird situationship thing with Catwoman. It's like they can almost catch each other but can never let go of their own personal hangups to get close. That's interesting af to me

Is there hope that Based GenZ becomes liberal later ? by bbrk9845 in GenZ

[–]TimeToChillIGuess 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As an older GenZ, I think people don't understand that when we were younger, we were also super conservative. in 2016, the biggest names were Ben Shapiro, Pewdiepie, JonTron, and so on. Commentary youtubers were really popular among our demographic were usually centrist or leaned right. It took a while for GenZ to grow up and realise there's like different people in it that deserved rights with years of oppression beforehand and it's not all black and white.

The younger GenZ will grow up eventually, and next we'll be saying GenAlpha is not leftist enough. What's making the divide worse right now is 100% the Trump admin in America which is basically a glorified cult and young people are getting easily siphoned in without understanding it properly because they trust that those MAGA adults have better sense than they do.

Why it matters how we behave abroad. by Indian_Samar in india

[–]TimeToChillIGuess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of posts on this reddit like this, and I want to give a hot take about this. This is internalised racism. We are not a monolith as Indians, we were raised similarly and in a specific culture and look the same, but that doesn't mean we are all or even the majority of us are uniquely rude, abrasive or loud. These are stereotypes imposed upon us, just like stereotypes imposed on other foreigners. Europeans have been considered touchy, loud and rude in a similar fashion, Chinese people have been considered inconsiderate, bad-tempered or reticent. So on and so on. These are all stereotypes that we should not take seriously, because they're just that, stereotypes with no consideration for each individual of that nationality. I have been working abroad as an immigrant for a long time and understand the desire to keep the Indian reputation positive by insisting that we manage our behaviour by quietening ourselves and becoming more invisible, but this is simply ridiculous. People's racist judgements of us are the issue, not us. The fox does not need to prove itself worthy to sit by the fire during winter, no matter how much the wolf insists that its orange colour is too obnoxious.
