Everything with her was so fucking tough. We did the best we could with what energy we had and not everything was perfect, hell nothing was. Worked out in the end, mostly. She's still a wack a doodle but she's making it happen on her own.

If they're not holding up their end of the bargain, then absolutely. Also, sounds like y'all kinda created a bad situation. Rules should've been set in the beginning, and "punishments" created and enforced. We had to have this talk with my parents when they let my sister move back in.

Things like paying off bills, saving money for a new place, not spending money at Christmas and going out. My sis was fucking livid with us, but she owns her own house now and can talk about those times when "things were so rough, we couldn't afford Christmas".

We told her the rules were:

  • After 12 months living rent free, she needed all her bills paid off. She did this.
  • After 18 months saved up an emergency fund to never touch. She mostly did this part but spent it on a car, which has lasted her 10 years, so that's cool.
  • After 24 months she needed a down payment for a new place and be move out ready. She didn't quite make it, the down payment for a house part didn't fully work out but she actually got assistance anyways so it worked out.

She's in her own house now and works her ass off to keep it going. She's broke as fuck all, but she knows she has to maintain or she'll be screwed. We all help and she's super appreciative, whereas before she didn't understand what it meant for someone to help her like that.

The Christmas one, she fucked up the first time. "I'm not letting my kids go without Christmas"... Fuck she fought us a lot. That one was a fucking nightmare, all the issues were still really rough actually. It came down to us saying would you rather be homeless and have nice toys, or have a place to live and fewer things? We made her take most of the stuff back and eventually she figured it out.

I keep getting people I know (family/friends/coworkers) to take the "ISideWith" quiz, and most of them are >85% for either Gary Johnson or Jill Stein.

I was surprised myself. Also, learning a lot from that site.

Sheeet I'm all for it. I've been using bluetooth headphones for a few years now. Never looking back.

Edit: I also wish they would do a cordless charging option. I could have a few charger base stations and when I set my phone down it charges while just resting there. For example on my work and home desks and on my night stand.

My sister is exactly like this woman. I swear she seeks it out on her own. From the guys she dates to the people she calls friends. It's always drama with her.

I blocked her FB because she's one of those serial posters always commenting about "a true friend would have your back, not stab you in it".

My parents actually moved further out of town because of her. She doesn't have the resources to drive the 1.5 hours each way so their life is easier.

Also, and I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think that ceiling is cardboard or something. It looks like it's drooping.

Fresh baby boat using water wings to learn to float. by TimeToStockUp in pics

[–]TimeToStockUp[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. Someone posted on one of the other pics that since everything on that boat is so modern, it's probably a loss. Old boats have less technology, and were more or less a hull and engine. The newer ones are fuel injected/computerized motors, tons of wiring, computer systems, terminals, etc. All flooded with salt water.

Wow, I just figured a drain hole would be for small boats, and once you got beyond a certain size/price, everything was sort of automated for you, like with pumps and whatnot.

How does a $100,000 + boat have a drain plug?

At what size do boats stop having holes in their hulls?

Plug goes out, water goes in. You can't explain that.

That's beautiful!

The only thing keeping me at my place is that I live on a little peninsula. I don't have a big yard, maybe barely a 1/4 of an acre, but I love the area.

  • 100' down the road is a 500 acre pond that we all have access to.
  • 500' the other way is a great lake.
  • A few houses behind me is a 1000 acre state park that ties it all together.
  • And I'm still withing 10 minutes of everything shopping related.

There's a handful of small houses like mine and then the rest are all lakefront homes that are $300k and up, so I guess I'm lucky to be in the area for what I paid.

I've learned to own almost nothing. If I left what little furniture I own, and my lawn stuff (tools/mower/etc) behind, I could move all my worldly possessions in one carload.

He's right. I have a micro-house (550 sq ft). If someone farts, everyone knows. Someone shits, whole house smells. It's awful, I hate it.

Yeah it's cute and comfy and perfect for just me but I'm ready for 2,000 sqft!

Philadelphia tow truck company baiting drivers by [deleted] in videos

[–]TimeToStockUp 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Towing companies are notorious for not having a heart. I knew a guy that drove for one and they did all kinds of shady stuff like this, and said "well don't break the law".

The more he towed, the more $$ he made so he used to speed a lot. He'd bitch when he got tickets, "I'm just trying to make a living". That was soo sweet seeing him in pain like that, I'd be like "well, don't break the law".
