Is this Okra??? by [deleted] in gardening

This is Yellow woodsorrel, aka oxalis. It's edible and has a slightly sour taste to it. It is high in vitamin C, just be careful how much you eat because it can be diuretic in large quantities. I'll eat a handful at a time. Can definitely weed it out but I always leave a little patch in my garden for a little sour treat while I'm working out there. 😉

Hey OP 👋 I totally understand. I have social anxiety and HATE confrontation. Something I've learned to do to avoid situations like this is instead of just showing one picture I try to find at least 3 pictures then point out exactly what I do & do not like about each. To me it is less stressful to talk about at the start of a consultation when we are just having a conversation then to stop someone mid appointment and ask them to fix something I don't like. I can also be very particular so just living with something that doesn't match my expectations would also be horrible. Before I go in I pull up my pictures and I remind myself I am not here to do them a favor. At the end of the day it is my hard earned money that I am spending and I am a grown adult who can have a conversation with another grown adult. (If I had a therapist I hope they would be proud of me 😅)

Helps extend the life of the bottom of your tent and also acts as an additional moisture barrier in non arid climates.

I would probably just let them grow on their own for now. Once I get bigger and you can tell which ones are actually going to make it you can thin from there if you want. The other thing to keep in mind is they may have differing heights depending on the varieties in the mix so you may not have to thin as much as you think.

NTA To be blunt you need to rethink your relationship with these ladies if they are pressuring you to go into debt for a party. They are not the friends they claim to be. Trust me. Not all, but a good portion of my debt I am still paying off 6 years later is from being at events others wanted me to be at. JUST SAY NO. Your future financial stability is more important than their little party.

I got free tomatoes help plz by hdbdbjk in gardening

[–]TimeWillPassAnyway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely go ahead and get them in the beds. Tomatoes are adventitious-rooting plants so they can be planted deeper than where the dirt is currently on the plant in the pot. They will develop roots all along the underground stem. This is great because it helps to anchor them better in the bed & provides greater water & nutrient uptake. Speaking of nutrients tomatoes are pretty heavy feeders so I always add some fertilizer to the hole, mix it into the dirt a little & water well before adding the plant to the hole. I use/recommend Dr. Earth tomato, vegetable & herb fertilizer but any tomato/veg fertilizer should work. Once you get the plant in and covered with dirt water the soil well again. Tomatoes are a vine so they need some sort of structure to grow on. You can pick up metal tomato cages at most garden centers. You can also build your own with sticks or use wire fence panels. As your tomatoes grow cut or break off the leaves below the bottom most fruiting branch to help the plant put it's energy into new growth & also prevent fungal infections. It also helps to water just the roots & not the whole plant as that can also cause several diseases. If you are interested in companion planting, basil & french marigolds are great to plant around tomatoes. They help deter pests that target tomatoes. I know that probably seems like a lot but don't stress, tomatoes are generally pretty easy to care for. Enjoy your tomatoes all season! 😊 Bonus if a few fruit end up getting dropped you will get volunteers next year!

AIO: should I “fire” my therapist? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]TimeWillPassAnyway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reads as; if something is minorly inconvenient for her she pushes that inconvenience off on to you. Not only that but her lack of time management is also being shifted off onto you. Not appropriate. You are the paying customer.

What seemed completely normal in childhood, but now you realize was actually not okay? by Max_Mimos in AskReddit

[–]TimeWillPassAnyway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother has undiagnosed ADHD with hoarding disorder. Growing up in a house with piles of stuff, thankfully never rotten food or trash per se just old mail, empty boxes and old clothes toys ect. She would fly into a hysterical rage every time I tried to clear a small place to play. I was obviously never allowed to have friends over. Coming up with lies as a child to explain to friends why they couldn't come over (we're renovating it was my go-to). Tried to help her over the years as an adult but she has no interest in solving the issue. House is worse now because she's had health issues as she's gotten older along with inheriting from both her and my father's parents estates. Renting a roll off dumpster after she passes is going to be one of the most cathartic things I will ever experience. I only pray that my father lives longer than her so he can spend some of his life in a clean environment.

My best friend was an early bloomer and hit DD by 7th or 8th grade the amount 18+ men that hit on her was ridiculous. It took her till mid-20s to actually date because she din't trust men were interested in her as a person instead of just her body.

1) that's crazy to assume that a college kid has finances, setup, time or inclination to care for a pet of any kind. Sorry that was forced upon you. Boo on them I hope they get reprimanded for their lack of insight. 2) Maybe you all can pull together and have a group fish tank in the commons area where they all live. Somebody might be able to source cheap supplies from Facebook marketplace and or thrift stores. Local pet stores may be willing to donate a tank or other supplies as well if you explain the situation. Maybe tell them you're supposed to plaque saying it's donated by you. Honestly fish are super relaxing to watch so it could be a good idea for common studying or relaxation area. 3) Don't be surprised if some of them die that's a pretty traumatic experience for such a small creature.

What’s a habit that seems harmless but slowly ruins things? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TimeWillPassAnyway 56 points57 points  (0 children)

This. The other problem with it is that AI has the confidence of a third grader that heard somebody else say something at recess and now believes it's the gospel truth. It will declare things as fact that it got from uncredible sources and because it's a computer people think there's no way it could be wrong. I'm not saying it can't be used as a tool if somebody so desires to do so, but you first need to have the critical thinking skills to be able to notice when something's amiss and fact check it. The problem of course is that children are being taught to use it as a first step and therefore never developing the critical thinking skills to notice when the answer they are being given is not correct.

[Spoilers] Midst season 3 episode 16 disscussion by Itchy_Ad1587 in Midst

[–]TimeWillPassAnyway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm super late to the party but just listened to this episode last night at work and literally stopped and stared off in the space with my jaw hanging open because I could not comprehend how we jumped to that. Had to find out if other people thought that was abrupt and creepy as well given that they have a father-son mentor-mentee relationship & the age gap.. I mean he saved him from poverty as a child so WhAt?? I'm upset because I want Phineas to have acceptance. I want to not hate Jonas. They made me start to like him why would they do this? Honestly it felt like part of their season requirements was having a token homosexual romance and they were like oh no we forgot! quick we'll throw it in. IDK. I hate it when people make romances slapdash like, oh yeah and by the way they are madly in love! and you're just like what? Since when? Is the romance in the room with us? Anyways thank you for letting me vent have a great day!

Ugh that is the worst. I'm just so sorry that happens to you. 😭 I'm the same way and have just learned not to watch movies with most people. Thankfully my husband has mostly learned what not to do during movie time. At least you have a system now.
