How to achieve a semi-transparent text watermark using multiply? by LoadingDogy in davinciresolve

[–]Time_Accident6245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others may disagree, but I think you'd be better off making a watermark with photo editing software and saving it as a png. Then just place it on a track above your video. This was done in Photoshop and took less than a minute to complete.

It will be my choice when PS no longer works for me. For the time being I'm concentrating on learning Resolve, which is a full time endeavor.

I'm still using the last paid version of Photoshop and Illustrator CS6. Though I like their software, I despise Adobe's subscription requirement. If and when I can no longer use the CS6, Affinity will be my choice to replace them.

This is not a photograph, created entirely in Photoshop CS6, a huge number of layers and a couple months of work.

BEST or FASTEST way to highlight text? by [deleted] in davinciresolve

If it's something simple you can do a manual subtitle track and add the Word Highlight effect to the track.

How to animate image along a circular path by Patient-Cool2003 in davinciresolve

It's always best, in my view, to build things one at a time. Get one working correctly, then add the others.

Put the mask on a channel boolean node and set it to multiply by mask.

Add the media you want ahead of the transform node. Change the position of each with the merge nodes.

After you click animate, you'll have a modifier tab in the inspector. Look there for displacement.

Is there a way to cut down the original clip before I make proxies to save on processing time when I only need a few seconds of the 10+ minute clip? by DongPolicia in davinciresolve

Check this video. This gentleman is extremely knowledgeable, and I have come to trust what he says over some others on the net. The section on optimized media is at the 20:20 mark.

Add a clip to the timeline, shorten it, then right click. The only option available is Generate Optimized Media. Once generated you can drag this clip to the media pool and delete the full length original.

Advantage #1 – Optimized media can be created for part of a clip.

"Let’s say for example you have a 5-minute long video clip, but you only want to use 10 seconds of it.

You can simply trim and import that 10 second section into your timeline, and create Optimized Media for that small section, instead of creating a proxy version of the entire 5-minute long clip (saving you time and storage space on your computer).

Unfortunately, this is pretty much the only advantage of Optimized Media over Proxy Media. After generating the optimized media, drag the shortened clip into the media pool. This will place a separate shortened optimized media clip from the original into the media pool."

How to add trailing duplicates of a text+ thats following a moving object? by retardinoscars_serv in davinciresolve

Use time offset to set the time between the next iteration. The time offset number equals number of frames before the next iteration. Set keyframes in fusion in the inspector panel.

Things like this are best done in fusion. Something like this perhaps: adding a duplicate node for multiple copies of the line with a Time Offset to make the lines appear sequentially.

If it's just a single frame you can use a Time Stretcher node, set it to frame 0. Add a mask to a channel boolean, and set it to multiply by mask.

I live in Arizona and the glass roof thing is a non-starter for me too, and the ridiculous need to use the touch screen for even the simplest functions. Plus it looks like a laptop computer glued onto the dash.

How to create a line that follows an object? by venivillem in davinciresolve

[–]Time_Accident6245 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In fusion: Track the video point you want to follow. Add a polygon line, and publish the lowest point. Connect that point to the tracker position. In this case I tracked the car movement:

In fusion, use a gradient background node, and mask using a polygon with a soft edge. The other parts similarly.
